This is the best tea room I have experienced and I have tried many in Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Himeji and Kyoto.
The atmosphere is perfect and feels very much like home to me (North England). In my opinion this was a better experience that what can be found even in England as the service was perfect.
For food I had the English breakfast and trifle and it was bloody beautiful. Honestly the eggs where perfect and the sausage was delicious. The jam and custard in the trifle was heavenly and serving it in a jam jar was a great touch.
As for drinks I had a hot earl grey and later and ice earl grey and honestly it was perfect. I ordered for two and they gave us a tea pot and a spare tea pot with more hot water for more tea and we each had 3 big cups. The tea was delicous and full of flavor. The ice tea was no different served in a large glass with plenty of milk, syrup and even more tea in the teapot.
For service the staff was perfect and the lady who cooks speaks beautiful English and is very friendly. Everything was clean and perfect.
The tea room also sells some british goods most importantly yorkshire tea which is nearly impossinlento get here and is by far the best tea.
Definitely come early as everything is made fresh. Sadly I will soon run out of money as I live in Osaka but will be back here many times...
Read moreNostalgic breakfast in the heart of traditional Japan! As a Brit who's been been living in Nara for two years now and felt a little homesick! So I went to this lovely little cafe where they serve a very decent brekkie! Certainly not something you find easily in Japan! It was clearly made with care and mostly very authentic! Real sausages, not the frankfurters so common here, and a small but pleasantly crispy portion of bacon. The hash brown was a bit skinny in the American style, but everything taken together perfectly hit my nostalgia button and I was very satisfied! The staff were also very friendly, and were happy to listen to my flag trivia. I would think tourists should really be eating local delicacies, but for anyone looking for a taste of the UK, be it hearty breakfast or delicate scones, this is the place to come. And I'm very pleased a little place like this...
Read moreI randomly came upon this place when walking back to Nara station after having visited the deer park. It had been pissing down with rain and I was wet through so I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the sign offering British tea and scones. I went upstairs to see if it was open and was in luck. I ordered some English breakfast tea and a cheese toastie. It was just what I needed to warm up and give me a burst of energy. Its a pity the cafe is not nearer the main street as I am sure many tourists would visit if they knew it was there. If anyone in Nara fancies a taste of home, Id definely...
