Since everything closes early in Nara, found this place on google maps that was still open. He gave us a menu with 3 options (sets) to choose from. We only wanted sushi so we went with 8 piece deluxe which was 2090¥/person (each has to order no sharing). Because the chef speaks no English, he brought another english menu to point at the name of the sushi he just prepared. This menu was different from the one we were offered earlier with a list of individual sushis and their prices. We were unpleased that this menu was not given to us in the beginning as we just wanted to order what we liked. Unfortunately we were forced to try things we didn't really want try. Everything was great until squid sushi. My first time trying it and my last lol. It was super rubbery was not getting chewed. Another foreign couple walked in and he offered them the menu with the 3 options as well they argued that they wanted to order individual sushis but was told to choose from this menu only and was told that sharing is not allowed each has to order. I did not like that felt used. Im sure they did too. They...
Read moreHere is a complete guide to Fuku Sushi. The resutrant has no sign in that says Fuku sushi. Enter in to the location that google takes you to. Look at my last photo on this review. You’ll need to slide the door open. You’ll be welcomed by the staff. When it comes to ordering, you’ll have 3 options (see menu) in the first picture. It is not a la carte. The chef will choose the nigiri sushi dishes for you and make them one at a time. He will guide you through the proper way to eat each piece. He is very friendly. I got the 10 Omakase nigiri and was perfectly satisfied. Coming from America, this was a super different and cool experience to the restaurants we have in the states. If you are looking for a unique experience eating sushi and are not picky when it comes to your sushi, you’ll have a pleasant time. If you are sensitive with sushi and like to pick and choose, don’t come here. Get the fruity...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for a quiet little dinner and this is a hidden gem in Nara, Japan. We were greeted by a pleasant elderly couple who were so kind and entertaining. We selected the Omakase and trusted them to guide us through their exquisite menu. He would simply make his pieces and then point to them on the menu. It got to the point where we would attempt to guess his preparations and i think he enjoyed that game. His wife who was so attentive would top off our green tea at a moments notice and it felt we were in their home enjoying a heart felt meal. Everything in this restaurant is done with a warm serving of love. It's a very small restaurant so be aware they may turn down a larger group. This place will always have a warm place in our hearts as it represents the true craft...
