Just Wow!! True definition of a diamond in the rough! What looks like a sleepy cafe on a slow street is really the best place to eat in Nara. I really hope Nara gives this place the respect it deserves. Any town in the world would be so lucky to have a place like this. The chief has Japanese roots and incredible French training. The meal was completely balanced and cooked to perfection. Had an amazing dish of fried saba with eggplant, tartar sauce, pineapples and nuts that came with a side salad, soup, choice of bread or rice and strangely, French fries.

It’s a shame that the coffee took forever to arrive and when it did, it was weak and tepid.
