While visiting Jigokudani Valley, we stopped for lunch at 道産子ぷりん. Surprisingly, the queue was short, and we decided to give it a try. What a hidden gem! The soup curry here is incredibly delicious, and the queue does not do this place justice.
I ordered their Enma Curry, a limited daily special featuring 5 different types of seafood and 8 type of vegetables. The portions were generous, and the seafood—especially the mussels and prawns—was incredibly fresh. The vegetables, including grilled pumpkin and mushrooms, were bursting with flavor and paired beautifully with the rich soup curry.
The pork soup curry was equally impressive. The pork was tender, not too fatty, and melted in the mouth. Both curries paired perfectly with the rice, making for a hearty and satisfying meal.
And you can choose the level of spiciness for the soup curry to suit your taste.
We upgraded to the soft drink set meal, which included their signature pudding for dessert. The puddings were a highlight! Both the chocolate pudding and sesame pudding were rich, smooth, and creamy, with a perfectly balanced sweetness—not too heavy, just right.
If you’re in Noboribetsu, this soup curry restaurant is a must-visit. Delicious food, generous portions, and fantastic desserts—you’re...
Read moreCame here for an early lunch shortly after 11 and we were the first customers there. We ordered Noboribetsu Pork Soup Curry and a Hokkaido pudding set with a hot coffee. The pudding came out immediately and the curry came out within 10 minutes of ordering… very speedy and efficient. The hot coffee was smooth and tasty. I really recommend mixing the caramel sauce that is in the dropper fully into the pudding before eating it. The flavor of the sauce is quite strong and overpowering (almost bitter to me). I did not like the pudding until I mixed the sauce fully into the pudding. However the curry was delicious. We ordered it with medium spice and it was perfect. The ingredients all come in large pieces, so it is a bit hard to split with another person like we did, but we managed. I would definitely come back for the curry but I think there are plenty of pudding options in the area, so I would probably try that...
Read moreIt’s a more than respectable dessert place in Noboribetsu. I didn’t expect to find a nice place like this in a relatively remote area.
My order is the honeysuckle cream cheese pudding. My taste buds tell me that much thought is put into making this dessert. The honeysuckle topping doesn’t overpower the creamy taste of the pudding. The good balance between those two elements makes for a pleasant eating experience.
Much more can be done, however, to give customers a memorable atmosphere. For starters, I can’t figure out the restaurant’s concept. Is it also intentional that customers can view what’s going on behind the counter? I can see wet cloth towels hanging on the racks and what looks like discarded food wrappers under the sink. As for the dining space, either the table is too low or the chair is too high. I can’t sit comfortably and my knees keep hitting the bottom...
