Hedonist — Restaurant in Osaka

Easily one of the best bars I've been to, anywhere. tl;dr fancy cocktail bar with incredible bartenders that know exactly what they're doing, with genuine love for the craft, at an affordable price point for the experience you get.

The atmosphere? Cozy, with a dark ambience and brooding jazz playing. The bartenders will converse with you but will leave you alone if you so choose.

The service? Incredible. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable in making cocktails, and one of the main appeals is their ability to make personalized cocktails based on instructions (e.g. "make me a refreshing jasmine tea cocktail with vanilla notes"). There is a wide gamut of liquers, bitters, and customized alcohols that the bartenders use.

The food is limited (only snacks on the menu), but that is not the bar's main appeal. You go here to get a few amazing, high class, high quality drinks and have an intimate evening with friends or a loved one. We went here all 3 nights we were in Osaka.

The best part? The cocktails are cheap by foreign standards; only about $10 a drink; significantly less than the ~$18 boiler plate cocktails that is the new standard in New York City.

I only wish I had a bar like this in my town, but it would cost 3x the cost...

Max and his team absolutely deserve their 5 star review. The man is a master of his craft, which is reflected by the lack of need for a menu - instead opting to simply ask you what sort of flavour profile you want in a drink - sour, fruity, bitter, complex, smokey, a twist on a classic, ect. He also makes it a point to let customers know if the price of a drink will exceed 1500 yen (the standard price for a cocktail here)

My companion wanted “dark chocolate and smoke”, and Max produced. I wanted a Negroni with a twist - Max produces with a Cardamom-spiced Negroni with the complexity of an enigma machine, and perfectly balanced. His team are also skilled, with Ryu producing one of the nicest Whiskey sours I’ve ever had. For a novice, he sure has a bright future ahead of him.

The bar itself is beautiful and well designed. Mood lighting, comfortable seats, not cluttered but not empty - the perfect venue for a date or to come by yourself. Max and his staff make for good conversation, as do the customers who come here - a good mix of expats, tourists and locals.

One of the best bars I’ve ever been to! We were lucky to have a no menu night—the bartenders were making drinks based off your preference. It was incredible! But they have a seasonal changing menu, and the current summer one has a Dirty Lychee Martini that is a WILD ride (sweet lychee that turns into a sudden BAM of umami!) never had a drink like it. The A sip in Bangkok was wonderful and I’d recommend it!

Everyone was so friendly, nice, and talented. A lot of different languages spoken here (Japanese, English, Spanish), so it’s great for everyone to try out!

My boyfriend had a bunch of personalized cocktails and they were amazing. I had the best mocktail I’ve ever had in my life here! Gorgeous presentation as well.

More of a chill, relaxed vibe here. Great soft music, a huge alcohol selection, incredibly unique syrups, and a great amount of talented bartenders. A must try!
