It pains me to write a review this bad, I'll start with the positives...
The restaurant has a hip vibe to it, like a New York City pizza of joint, but a little more upscale.
The service is polite and friendly. The pizza crust was excellent with great crispiness to it.
Negatives...
The English for the staff, is limited. If you want special orders requests, you need to have a translator on your phone.
Their beer selection isn't the best, sorry, but Budweiser isn't the best example of an American beer. Would have loved some Japanese beer on tap or even offered.
So we wanted to order a full pie and not slices, we did appreciate the restaurant could do that.
However, and this may be my fault, the price of a full pie is damn expensive. For three toppings. It was $35. Also, it was a large pizza, not a smaller size as we expected... We wasted three slices because we didn't want to take them back to the hotel.
Also, I confirmed three times how I wanted the pizza made. Full toppings of pepperoni/ onions/ olives...but easy on the veggies
Unfortunately, they split the pizza with the toppings and it was basically wrong.
The condiments for the pie at each table, including the paper towels were good, except that they were lacking garlic salt and Parmesan shakers.
They have an upstairs area to eat in, that is spacious... But getting there is treacherous on some small and steep steps. We walked a lot today and climbing those stairs was a pain in the butt.
My finally, my partner did not like the taste of the pepperoni. I didn't have an issue with it, but it was funky to...
Read moreThe formula for a successful restaurant featuring foreign food in Japan is so simple, I don't know why it is so rarely executed well. Henry's understands. First, an authentic product, consistently delivered. No messing around with the recipe. Just make the pizza in Japan the same way you do in America. Second, keep the menu simple and focused on your best products. Third, keep the restaurant very damn clean.
They use the right ingredients, and make it the right way, with a slightly chewy, yet crunchy crust. The sauce, cheese and toppings are fresh and very well balanced. For a big eater, two lunch sets will be 2200 yen and fill you up with four slices and four drinks. The place is filled with cute, petite girls eating half of that. Evening is more expensive, but a bargain compared to the emotional costs of sitting in a United Airlines economy seat for 11 hours just to savor a delicious slice.
The music is loud and club-like which isn't my thing, but other customers - I mentioned the cute girls, right ? - were literally dancing in their seats. The steep staircase ends at a platform next to a big window which probably wouldn't pass building codes in the US, so either stay sober or use the handrail.

Read moreAwesome place. Like many, I probably searched "pizza near me' after leaving Osaka castle. This seemed like the most 'American' pizza that I was going to get, so I gave it a try.
Due to the late time, the only way I could get want I wanted was to have a whole pizza made. They would otherwise been left with most of a pizza at closing. I happily ordered, ate some, and they boxed the rest for me.
The pizza was good, for Japan. In Japan, Napoli style pizza seems to be the norm, and I'm not a fan of that, so seeing NY style was good. It would've been nice if they had more meats available, and I'd probably have ordered 'meat lover's' style. Still the best pizza I've had in Japan.
The place is a whole vibe as well. I'll go again and try the garlic knots everyone else is...
