Kani Doraku - Amimoto Bekkan — Restaurant in Osaka

Very difficult to communicate, mixed up my order, had to pay extra $100 for their mixed up... ruined our fancy dinner out in Japan...

I went there today with my two kids and my husband. Ordered 2 crab course meal for adults and 2 extra udon for my kids.(one is 4 and the other is 8)

The course was enough for all four of us and we enjoyed the meal until we got the check.

They got my order mixed up and ordered 4 courses instead of 2 which cost me an extra 19800 yen which is around $200.

We said we cannot pay for their mistake and they said even though they made a mistake because we finished all the meal and didn't realize the food was not the one that we've ordered, we need to pay the food price.

If the menu was detailed enough to tell what food I was getting I would've of course let them know first hand. The menu was all in Japanese and the english menu which they gave us didn't really describe the detailed course meal.

I do not mind paying for a fancy meal. However, the way they handle the entire situation was very upsetting.

They told me it is my fault that I didn't ler them know first when there were so much food. How would I know how much food do they serve? I've never been to their joint in my life!

They said I should've been aware that it was for four coursed meal when they gave us the little Japanese written menu on paper. Sorry I can't read Japanese and it is as good as a chicken scratch to me.

I understand there might be a cultural and language barriers, but I am writing this review to check if there are any other foreign visitors who had similar experience with this joint and also to let others to always double check your orders...

Food is ok but the room is very smoky. We didn’t have any reservations but lucky they offered us a table after waiting for less than 10 minutes. We tried other Kano Doraku branches in Shinsaibashi and loved it there. Unfortunately, we feel that our experience in this Kanu Doraku is not as good. We tried two different menus. The food is only average. Compare to the lunch menu in another branches, dinner menus are not as good of a deal. Service is ok but the most disappointing thing is they put us in a smoking area without letting us know in advance. Hence the whole meal, we could smell the guests next to our room smoking. If they could let us know before we went into the room, we would have asked to wait for a non smoking room instead. DON’T come to this branch. probably the worst of all my dining experiences at Kani Doraku stores. the food was not as good as the ones in Tokyo for some reason. not as many choices either. one of the staff was serving with bad attitude. Also we were kinda being discriminated by one super bad attitude staff who almost yelled at us “we are closed, you have to go downstairs now!” with her eyes wide opened! duh!! u were the ones who were serving slow because of under staff? plus we were waiting for a family member using the toilet! maybe u should put up a sign saying “no (Chinese) foreigners are welcomed” or simply stop using web reservation services :) this branch is NOT recommended. we wouldn’t have booked it if the other branches were full at the first place. I guess the poor attitude is also why this branch still got seats available...
