We had a very bad experience with the service in Red Lobster last night as generally the servers were rude and showed a lot of attitude. My family of 4 had our dinner here and we ordered a 3 pax platter, a pasta and 2 servings of biscuits for a total of JPY13k. For drinks, we ordered hot water for 4 pax as we were all thirsty and we felt cold after a long day at the park. We also did not want to drink any soft drinks.
Our main server (A) was a nice and friendly lady who took our orders and told us that water was free of charge and free flow. In all our experience in restaurants, water was never considered as part of an order as it’s free so we topped up water again when we were about to finish dinner, which was after last orders. A different serving lady (B) with short hair came over to us with 4 cups of water and said something to us in Japanese. When I asked her if she could say it to us in English instead, she placed the cups down then jabbed at the cups angrily and said “This is last order for water”. She glared and blinked at us angrily. We were all too stunned to react except to say “Oh okay”.
After that, we went to the cashier to make payment. Another lady (C) was serving as the cashier and she asked us for the bill. I went back to the table but I could not find it. When I told her I could not find it, she then walked into the restaurant and came back with it. Waving it in the air, she said “It’s on the table” irritatedly.
She spoke to us as if we wanted to purposely not bring the bill to her. It was black and small and was placed underneath the dark brown/black cutlery basket which was why we totally missed it. We wanted to tell the store manager about the bad experience that we had with the previous server (B) but we were unable to do so and so we told the cashier (C) that the servers were so rude, except for A. Initially, C was unwilling to hear and said “I am sorry” in a very sarcastic way while rolling her eyes. It was only when my parents explained about how B behaved that she started to be more sincere as she listened to our feedback.
I really want to give a 1 star rating for this experience as it was not just due to the above mentioned experiences but throughout the dinner, other servers showed frustration in having to serve us water and clear our dirty plates to give us fresh clean plates when we were de-shelling prawns and lobster claws and was taking up space on our small plates. It is only that Server A was so good to us in the beginning that I’m giving a 2 star rating.
For a restaurant that charges such prices, we would expect better service from the staff but, that was totally not the case. The food was good but the service experience is so off-putting that it spoilt our...
Read moreThis is far from what I expect from the “ Red Lobster” I used to have in the States. The taste, food portion, and even the famous crab cakes have been adjusted to catering to its regional taste.
What disappointed me the most is the service quality, which is usually a pleasure experience to me whenever I visit Japan. We ordered crab cakes along with main dishes. Our main courses were sent firstly instead of crab cakes( which should be sent as appetizers), so I checked in with staff to make sure if those crab cakes are properly ordered. To my surprise, a lady came over minutes later and asked us if we “ ate them???!!!” Are you questioning us for trying to get more crab cakes? To me this is a very unprofessional and rude question, and I don’t think it is difficult to find out the truth on her own. Just check with the kitchen staff !
I don’t know what went wrong but all of the staff looked tiring and emotionless on that day, as if they didn’t welcome guests and just wanted to get of work ASAP. Personally I don’t think they are the same “ Reb Lobster” as opposed to the ones in USA,...
Read moreIf you’re not japanese, be prepared to be served with racism here. They didnt look happy that foreigners came too. We came for dinner after a long day at USJ but however we were told to wait at the side while the japanese woman behind us got served quickly. We stood there like a fool while the other person could look through the menu while sitting at her table comfortably. Dont give me excuses like “she made a reservation, thats why” because there were PLENTY of tables. The least they could is to explain, but they didnt. My family had a great time here 6 YEARS AGO. Didnt expect the service to be this terrible this time around. Guess so many things have changed, including...
