We recently visited Kitashinchi Sushi Shiorian Yamashiro in Osaka, expecting a refined omakase experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations.
Upon arrival, we were placed in a small box-like room, isolated from the main counter experienceâa critical part of traditional omakase dining. Despite the counter having multiple empty seats, we were denied the opportunity to sit there, even when we asked twice. The first time, we were told the seats were unavailable, but by the end of the meal, three counter seats were still empty. To add to the confusion, we noticed another couple being moved from the counter to one of these small boxes, suggesting inconsistent and unexplained seat assignments.
The service was another major disappointment. The staff made no effort to explain the dishes, an essential part of enjoying an omakase meal, and their curt, unwelcoming attitude made us feel unwelcome as international guests.
To further diminish the experience, we were charged extra for additional pickles without being informed of the cost beforehand. Transparency about pricing is a basic expectation, and the lack of it felt unprofessional.
As for the food, the fish quality was mediocre at bestâhardly justifying the price or the restaurantâs reputation. Combined with the lackluster service and inhospitable treatment, it left a lasting impression, and not a positive one.
While the ambiance of a small box room may appeal to some, we specifically came for the authentic omakase counter experience, which was unreasonably denied to us. Based on our visit, this restaurant appears to lack warmth, professionalism, and the ability to cater to international guests.
Until they address these issues, we cannot recommend Kitashinchi Sushi Shiorian...
Read moreThis is the worst âomakaseâ experience you can ask for. All dishes were pre cut. I canât imagine if they were bought from supermarket. Just have a look at the pictures attached. They rush through every serving and even provide cooked food before raw food were consumed in any random order in no care of explaining what type of fish they bought from supermarket. Picture attached also showed ã€ã« had a piece of it hard "skelton" and had to be rejected from my mouth of this "fine" dining experience. Tempura is also bought because it is overcooked soggy not one bit is crispy. The seaweed used not crispy at all. We paid 35000 yen for 5000 yen worth of low end food that should not be even be served. Miso taste was not even boiled but instant soup. Deserts just a bit of cream and small knob of red bean. Maybe because we are å€åœäºº this kind of service was provided. With the amount of japanese culture i experienced i can tell they just want your money. If locals japanese visit, at least they wait for the soup finished before they took out the 10å dessert. Not the case for us, they asked "dessert" when we still had a piece of sushi an untouched bowl of soup. äžåå äŒïŒstrongly advise not to ruin your osaka experience by this resturant. Consider Daimaru food on the basement will serve you better quality of...
Read moreNot value for money, the night we went the restaurant was quite full. I understand there were only 2 sushi chefs at the counter and they are busy that night. However, the raw fish are already cut into small slices and the chefs had only need to assemble the fish on the rice, this is something I didnât expect this for an omakase course at this price point at 16,000 yen pp. And everything was served very quickly including the hot dish which I think must be ready made well before. We finished our 23 courses in just 45 mins. While the taste is just average, ingredients not particularly fresh nor match the price and the experience felt rushed, more like a fast food sushi chain. Itâs a bit disappointing that we donât get to see any knife work sitting at...
