Takauchi Coffee — Restaurant in Osaka

Lovely little mom-and-pop (gran-and-gramp?) coffee shop. Dark wood interior with some greenery and a fish tank.

We arrived just before lunch and got the marinara and Bismarck pizzas. Both were Neapolitan style; the marinara featured some sweet cherry tomatoes, garlic, and a little olive oil. Subtle but light and enjoyable. The Bismarck came with mozzarella, raw ham (akin to prosciutto), and a parboiled egg. Comparatively bold in flavor but certainly tasty, and the egg added another layer of creaminess.

Note that with ALL lunch items come a free salad (with cheese, some quiche, Japanese squash, vegetables stewed in tomato sauce, and a lemon dressing) and bottomless coffee.

Not particularly English-accommodating (it’s a local shop) but the lunch menu translates as:

After having lunch I wanted a coffee and needed to kill 1.5hrs before I could check in my hotel. Shin-Osaka station is mad busy cause of golden week. Found this place from google maps. Nice old couple runs it. They don't have an english menu so I suggest downloading the google translate app and maybe teach yourself some japanese phrases you need in restaurants. It goes a long way plus the locals appreciate it when you try. If all else fails they can tell you the menu in English. I ordered coffee with milk and cheesecake. It was delicious! Lovely place nestled away near Shin Osaka station. Quiet and peaceful. Service was reasonably quick, immediately apologetic that their menu was not in English, but that’s nothing Google translate couldn’t solve.
