Tsutenkaku Motsunabeya Dotombori — Restaurant in Osaka

It is with reluctance that I write this, as our trip to Japan was otherwise wonderful. However, our experience at this restaurant was a significant low point and marred our first day in Osaka.

The issues began when we noticed a stark disparity in portion sizes; our table of four received significantly smaller dishes compared to other patrons (photo of full order for 4 pax attached). The situation escalated upon receiving the bill, which exceeded ¥10,000 and contained charges for items we had neither ordered nor received.

Our polite attempts to clarify these discrepancies were met with an incredibly dismissive and unprofessional attitude. One female staff member responded by rolling her eyes, slamming the bill on our table, and walking away. When we insisted on having the incorrect items removed, they refused. Instead, they attempted to bring the unordered food to our table long after we had finished our meal and were ready to leave.

This left us with the unfortunate impression that we were being deliberately taken advantage of due to the language barrier. Their refusal to amend the charges, coupled with a bizarre insistence on serving us the phantom dishes as we were putting on our coats, felt less like a misunderstanding and more like a deliberate ploy. My boyfriend and I were back in Japan, we both love it there and its his home country so I let him navigate and pick our food. He took me to the restaurant for a date night. They had a 2 person special for about 5000 yen (about 50 us dollars). It came with alot of food! Big bowl of veggies, that cook right on your table.
