GYUKATSU Kyoto Katsugyu Doutonbori in Doutonbori offers a nice twist on the traditional dining experience with their interactive approach to serving beef. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking to try something a bit different.
The Sirloin Katsuya Set The sirloin katsuya set comes with sliced sirloin steak, a selection of sauces, salad, rice, and a small cooking surface that lets you prepare the meat to your liking. The beef quality is good, and having control over how well-done you want it cooked adds an element of fun to the meal. The sauces pair well with the steak, offering different flavor options without overwhelming the meat’s natural taste.
Good Attention to Service The oolong tea was well-prepared and flavorful - a nice complement to the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit, checking in when needed but giving us space to enjoy the cooking experience. Their service added to the overall positive atmosphere.
Interactive Dining Experience The table-side cooking element makes this more than just a regular dinner. It’s enjoyable to cook your own food and creates a relaxed, interactive atmosphere that works well for conversation. The experience feels engaging without being gimmicky.

Read moreFound this place by accident and was extremely happy! I believe it is still fairly new, so it wasn’t super busy and we were able to get a table straight away upon entering. This restaurant is located in the Dontonburi area and was upstairs on the 2nd floor. If you look for the drummer statue on the ground floor, there is an escalator behind it which will take you to the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and spoke good enough English to communicate with us. They provide you tea upon arrival with your menu. We chose two different options and both were fantastic. The waiter explained each of the sides when the meals were brought out. The curry sauce was incredible. Both meat cuts were tender and soft. This was more than enough food for me, however my brother wishes he opted for extra meat only (which is an option in the menu) There is also free wifi available. Would highly recommend to anyone and visit again next time...

Every team member was friendly, attentive, and carried themselves with such professionalism — all beautifully presented and a true reflection of the Japanese dining experience. The service was seamless, with staff making sure everything was perfect without being intrusive.
The restaurant itself is fantastic — clean, modern, and spaciously laid out to suit solo diners, families, or groups. I ordered the premium sirloin katsu set and it was absolutely outstanding. The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. The accompanying side dishes and sauce options were thoughtful and added so much to the meal.
