Yayoiken Umeda Higashi — Restaurant in Osaka

Simple, cheap, quick and hearty food but definitely not super delicious. Since I am visiting Japan solo and couldn't really go for super fancy restaurants, I made it my target to try all the regular, 'fast food' chain places where the locals get their cheap meals. One of this is Yayoiken (which is a present in Malaysia).

Ordered their Pork Cutlet simmered in Miso Sauce set (cos no pork sets back home). Was slightly disappointed by the set cos although the pork cutlet was huge (ie good portions) but I find the sauce a tad too salty and overwhelming.

The extra egg was great as an added protein and because of the huge portion, I didn't finish my rice. There were no side salad as well and the greens included in the hot plate was too little so there weren't enough to bring down some of the saltiness.

The side tofu was good though, different from the ones back home cos it's creamy and has a very strong beans taste.

Overall it's good value for money I would say but to me, it would be great if the sauce was reduced (or put to the side) so that the overall saltiness is toned down.

Surprisingly though, I don't feel thirsty after, so there might not be too...

I had a really cosy and great experience eating out here, they work 24 hours which is something rare. They have a machine to order directly from supporting english as well and card payments. They have also got vegetarian and fish options which are very nice and super tasty. The service overall was amazing and you get unlimited free rice refills. Lastly the food was really very delicious with big enough portions and budget friendly prices, totally...

最近行く先々でやよい軒を探しては行くくらいにやよい軒の　サバの塩焼き定食　７７０円　にハマっています。

これ本当に美味し過ぎます！！

やよい軒を教えてくれた知人曰く、他にも美味しいメニューはあるから食べて見て、との事なんですがサバの塩焼きが完璧過ぎていまだに他を選ぶことが出来ません。　今の所やよい軒を知ってから２０回連続くらいでサバを頼んでいますし、多分これからもサバしか頼まないんだろうなぁと思います。

サバにはヒレとヒレ周りに少しの骨、それと小さな血合い骨と腹骨はあるので、気になる方は先に裏返して見えている腹骨だけは取っておくと骨がのどに刺さる事なく食べ易いかと思います。　気にならなければ腹骨も食べられますけどね。 こちらのサバはパリパリに炙られた皮も美味しいので私は皮ごと一緒に食べています。 油の乗った頭側の身は勿論、尻尾の方の身まで柔らかく本当に美味しいです。 味付けは若干薄めなので備え付けの醤油をたくさんかけていつもいただいています。　この醤油も塩っ辛く無くて、うっすら甘めですごく美味しいんです。 またご飯はおかわり自由ですし、大根の漬物も貰えます。お茶漬けにしたい時はお出汁も貰えます。 少し前まではご飯のおかわりは機械ではなく炊飯器から自分で取るスタイルだったので不衛生に感じておかわりを躊躇していましたが、機械で自動で注いで貰えるようになってからは安心しておかわりが出来る点も良いポイントです。 ただご飯は料理を提供される時の機械を通していない１杯目のご飯の方が美味しく感じるので、私は１杯目のご飯を大盛りでお願いしています。

お味噌汁は店舗によって量が多かったり少なかったり、熱々で美味しかったりぬるかったりと様々ですが、こちらの店舗のお味噌汁は熱々で美味しかったです。

冷奴は。。。別に無くても良いですかね。 あとレモンも不要です。
