This is my first stay at one of these ibis budgets so I had fairly low expectations given my previous few experiences at the other ibis and ibis Styles branded hotels (they are pretty hit and miss). To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised overall. Whilst my room was fairly small, it was functional and relatively well kept. Basic amenities are provided and there is a water cooler down on level 2 by the coin laundry and vending machine.
Now the thing that unfortunately caused me a bit of grief is how they had "securely stored" my luggage that I had sent ahead from Tokyo. I was stopping by Okinawa for 5 days after Tokyo and before Osaka, so I had sent some luggage I didn't need in Okinawa ahead. As I arrived at the hotel, I was surprised to find my luggage sitting by itself in the middle of the playground area of the lobby (and not with the other luggage next to the front desk). It was literally just left out in open space in front of the lifts (not next to a wall or anything). Assuming that it had arrived days earlier, I can only guess how long it was sitting there for anyone to be able to take off with it. Completely unacceptable! When I pointed it out to the front desk staff that checked me in, they were surprised, but didn't offer any apology or explanation. Would be interested to see if there is any CCTV footage that shows whether my luggage was tampered with.
Also, there was a man on my floor the day of my checkout that was going from door to door with a clip board. By his demeanor as he passed my door and the unhappy look he gave me, I think he was waiting for me to checkout so that the room can be made available. As a platinum ALL member, I had asked for late checkout, so I am not sure what the issue was there.
I will recommend people give this place a try. Maybe just don't use the luggage...

Ibis Budget Osaka Umeda offers a practical and comfortable stay for business travelers. Just an 8-minute walk from Umeda Station, the hotel’s location is ideal, surrounded by a lively area with a variety of bars and izakayas.
Check-in was efficient, with friendly staff ensuring a smooth process. The room, though compact in typical business hotel fashion, was well-equipped with essentials, including a semi-double bed, desk, and complimentary pajamas. Basic amenities like combs and swabs were readily available in the lobby.
The breakfast buffet provided a satisfying start to the day, featuring both Japanese and Western options such as scrambled eggs, salad, and pastries. While not extravagant, it covered all the basics needed for a hearty meal.
On the downside, the shower head was quite small, making the shower experience less comfortable. Additionally, the blackout curtains didn’t fully cover the window, allowing some light to seep in. Noise from the traffic outside was noticeable, so having an eye mask and earplugs was beneficial.
Overall, Ibis Budget Osaka Umeda delivers good value for its price point, making it a solid choice for those seeking convenience and efficiency during their business trips.

Read moreIbis Budget Umeda is a very poor quality hotel and is nothing more than a rip off.
It tends to cater for bus loads of people and I would call it more like a war shelter bunker than a hotel.
The ceilings are very low and the rooms are tiny, the roof near the door is so low there is only about 2 cm from the top of your head to the roof. The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and a useless TV that has about 6 channels all in Japanese. You can't even watch anything with a USB or Netflix or YouTube.
The beds are small double beds and the hotel is on a penny pinching mission where everything is shut and power off so when you check into the room it takes from half an hour for it to cool down and 2 to 3 hours for the fridge to get cold enough to cool drinks, so you've wasted time already from what you've paid for.
Such miserly penny-pinching policies which would make anyone never want to return.
The Wi-Fi is terrible and drops out all the time. It's often completely useless.
Housekeeping is a joke they don't make up your room unless you ask them in the morning. The towels are very small.and thin.
I only provide you with two small bottles of water on your first day of stay then nothing after that.
The bathroom is small and is more like an old ships bathroom with a horrible unsafe shower over bath which is slippery and dangerous.
The roof in the bathroom is very low and if you put your fist on top of your head you're touching the ceiling.
They just make up fees and add them even though you've paid in full. This place is a disgrace and a ripoff. There is nothing customer friendly about it and I would never stay here again.
I definitely would not recommend this hotel, it is not customer friendly they're just interested in penny pinching and not...
