CAFE RONDONKAN

Located just opposite the botanical gardens on Ishiyama Dori is "Cafe Rondonkan". The name is actually the "romajified" name of "London" and the word "kan" meaning hall or building. If you look at the Japanese name you'll notice these characters "倫敦” which are the Kanji characters for "London". The building is quite impressive. The facade, which looks out onto the street, is made entirely of glass. Once inside the cafe you are welcomed by the warm glow of wood panelling and antique furnishings. The menu is quite inexpensive. Including pasta & rice as well as sweets and quiche. I opted for the quiche while my friend ordered the "Doria", a pilaf topped witha rich cheesy sauce. I also asked the waiter and I assume owner for a double espresso "doppio". The food was hearty but lacked a little seasoning, but I'm more than happy to pay for it. The coffee however, was not so great. I could clearly tell it was a single shot with water added to the cup. At leaving time we had to ring the bell and call for the gentleman for 10 minutes, as he was a little hard of hearing. But this was soon forgotten when the man appeared with a large smile from ear to ear. Quite charming actually. Great atmosphere and food is value for money but I may have to go again before I give a verdict...

2024/09/17 Their coffee is less tasty than the Seicomart one. The staff frightened us at the entrance already, we were thinking of leaving immediately... Seeing the other reviews, she did not have just a bad day, she has this default terrible manner to customers, Japanese and foreigners too. In Japan, I don't expect European level (aka. high level) service at a cafe or restaurant, but her behaviour was the worst I have seen in Japan. So aggressive! If she is the owner, please consider employing a staff member, who enjoys life and being with people. If she is a staff member, I wonder why she is employed. They don't let you sit on the second floor. The toilet is dirty. If you want to chill in a cafe, this is...

平日にランチで訪問。 結論としては、ここ最近で一番最悪な出来事でした。

残念ポイントは3つ。

①提供時間 40分待たされたが、料理は出てこなかった。 後から入ってきたお客さんには提供されていたため、オーダーが通ってるか確認したところ、『もう直ぐ』だそうです。諦めて帰りました。

女性の店員さんにお伝えしたところ、 『こんなに混むのは初めてでした。でも時間あるって言ってましたよね？』と言ってきました。

『せっかくなのでゆっくりしたい。なのでソファ席でいいですか？』みたいなことはお伝えしたと思います。 ゆっくりりしたいのは、カウンターに通されそうだったので、せっかくだったら落ち着いた所が良いなと思ってお伝えしました。 『時間ありますので、いつまででも待ちますよ』みたいなことは絶対に言ってないです。

言葉尻を捉えて、自分の都合のいいように言い訳された気がして、すごく不快でした。 実際、他の方の口コミを見ても、『30分待たされた』というクチコミもありましたし。。

②お客さんの層 2人掛けのテーブルを2つ使って商談？仕事される方がいた。ソファに置くコートが私に当たりそうになっていたり、周りへの配慮がない方でした。

4人掛けテーブルがあるのだから、そちらでいいんじゃないかと思うのですが、周りへの配慮がないんでしょうね。落ち着いて食事やお茶したい人もいるのに。。

よく来るんだろうないう発言されてましたが、こういうお客さんに支えられている村社会なんだろうな。札幌というと都心部のイメージでしたが、やっぱり北海道は北海道なんですね。

③店員さんの対応 他の方のクチコミにもあるように、女性定員さんが非常に不快にさせる対応をしてきました。 比較的お年を召された男性店員さんは、申し訳なさそうに謝罪を頂けました。 女性店員さんは、人の感情を読み取ったり、表現されたりするのが得意ではないのかもしれませんが、さすがに40分待ってお水しか出ないことは人生で初めての経験です。

一言、『30分くらいかかるかもしれない。』であったり、『あと、〇〇分くらいかかりますが、大丈夫そうですか？』みたいな確認があればベターだと思います。
