CHATO MATCHA & BAKERY — Restaurant in Shizuoka

Went at 10am for a cold matcha dessert/drink, but the place turned out to be like a steam room, no fan and no aircond. Almost 10degree Celsius hotter than outside, if I have a thermometer to measure.

When I was at the counter, I realized they only accept cash, so I headed to the nearby 7-11 for withdrawal.

Then I came back. To my disappointment, their #1 seller NITORO matcha is sweetened. No way to opt out for sugar, meaning it’s premix. A signal that the matcha can’t be too premium. So I just went for only the dessert.

There was a layer of unique and delicious soy bean cream which I appreciated, but the ice cream at the very top was way too frozen when served. As I try to cut it through, everything else was squeezed up instead. In other words, u don’t get the intended layering of flavors. That said, even if I could get everything in one bite, I found the red bean to be too much and sweet, overpowering the other flavors.

Back to the aircond. Even as the order was taken and food served, aircond was still not turned on. After I requested for it, it’s even warmer air coming out of it. I had to move to other seats to avoid the hot breeze.

In all, a place that doesn’t seem to dive into consumer...

Very cozy coffee shop. The iced matcha latte is very strong and delicious. The people working here are super sweet as well. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely worth a visit. They do take out as well but I suggest sitting down and relaxing while sipping on...

בית קפה טבעוני, שמתמחה בהכנת מאצ'ה, הייתה חוויה מדהימה! ביקרתי אתמול והמוכרת הייתה ידידותית מאוד, והיא שמחה לעזור לי! למרות שהיפנית שלי לא טובה, היא החמיאה לי על המעט יפנית שאני יודעת, והגישה לי את האוכל בחיוך. האווירה בבית הקפה נעימה ורגועה הכל מקושט והצבעים רגועים, בחוץ ירד גשם ובגלל שהייתי לבד ישבתי ליד החלון. מנגינה עדינה התנגנה ברקע והייתי שלווה מאוד. כשהאוכל הגיע שמחתי שהטעם שלו היה טוב כמו כמה שהוא היה יפה, המאצ'ה הייתה מתוקה וקרה ומרעננת, עם נגיעה טובה של מרירות וטעם עמוק. הפאי מאצ'ה היה טעים מאוד אבל יותר מהכול אהבתי את הגלידה! גלידה מחלב סויה, ומעל הכל ריבה מפטל, מדהים! חבל שאני תיירת, אחרת הייתי באה שוב. כן צריך לדעת שהמחיר מעט גבוהה והכמות די קטנה, אז זה לפינוק בלבד,...
