Light European-style furniture, flowers, good-sized rooms and friendly staff have turned what what was probably once a basic business hotel-box into a nice place to stay.||and the FOOD! They offer a welcome drink in the coffee shop and it turns out to be a help yourself to soft drinks or alcohol table - along with vegetables, meat and rice! You wouldn't need to even go out for dinner after that.||Breakfast buffet too is really good - mainly Japanese food, but with bread, yogurt and coffee too.||It's about 10 minutes from Shizuoka station , in a handy neighborhood with some excellent restaurants - try the little French bistro across the railway line - and the Chinese place too. Front desk have a map of local eateries.||I'm guessing Dorf was revamped for the FIFA World Cup a few years ago, so some of the furnishings are looking a little worn by now - but it's bright...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Dorf for two nights while shooting a TV show. They were very friendly upon arriving and welcome all guests with free food and drink every night. This was a great treat after a long week of shooting! Most of the staff speak English and they have English guides to the city. The rooms are very small, typical Japanese business hotel size but clean and come with all amenities. The hotel also serves a 1,000 yen breakfast buffet which is well worth the price and offers a wide selection of Japanese and Western breakfast options. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay...
