I love Hida Beef and have visited many nice restaurants on my last visit to Takayama but this place - no words. Perfection! Just that! Everything, from the meat to the soup, just anything on the menu, tasted perfect. The moment I saw the meat, I knew it was of very high quality. The special cuts were extremely marbled, and the meat simply melted inside my mouth. I was very impressed! I would definitely come back if I’m in Takayama! The only bad thing is that they have a very limited number of seats available every day, so you’ll have to line up quite early before they open. For example, we wanted to secure a table for the 5pm dinner round, so we arrived at 4:15pm to queue up. When we got there, there were already 5 groups queuing up in front of us, so we really thought we couldn’t make it! Once they finish selling tickets for the day, they just stop accepting customers. So please come early!

Went to Ajikura for dinner. The restaurant will let you in to grab the que at 4:30pm for dinner service that will open at 5pm. We were there at 4:20pm and there were quite a few people lining up before us. We got queue no. 62 and the lady there told us to come back at 7pm. So we wandered off to old town and came back around 6:45pm. Found out after the meal that the last queue the restaurant gave out was no. 64 so we almost didnt make it. Food was amazing. Hida beef was marbled and juicy. Tons of options for dipping sauce (free: soy sauce, miso, salt&pepper and addtitional 20 yen each for wasabi, gochujang, etc) I enjoyed it with salt and pepper the most. Restaurant itself felt large and the seating was spread out. We ordered one Hida beef assortment to share. Two rice, a few soft drinks and a few side dishes. Our bills came out 15,XXX Yen. Great place. Expensive but did not disappoint!

One of the well known yakiniku restaurants in Hida Takayama, we came around 5pm on a Saturday to get a queue ticket. It has a very efficient queue management system, the printed ticket has a QR code which you can scan to check the group of people before you, this free you from waiting hopelessly not knowing when is your turn to be admitted. We ordered a set of “speciality serving” that comprises various types of beef cuts, including pork cuts. In addition to the above, we ordered Hida beef prime roast, the quantity of both are just sufficient for 2 persons. The meat served are not marinated, you need to grill according to your liking. The environment is surprisingly not smoky, the grill stove has strong suction that prevent the whole place becoming like a smoke chamber. Overall a good experience to dine here.

Supreme delicious yakiniku in town!! We went there in the afternoon and waited an hour to get a table. It worths waiting! We tried the hida beef combination set of many parts of beef with the price of around 7500 yen for two persons. Although the price is quite high, you pay what you get. The beef quality is supreme. When I ate it, it was melted in my mount without any chewing. Wasabi or salt is going well with the beef. But, when I ate too much, my mounth seemed so oily. We finished the meal with orange sorbet served on the orange peel. The taste is also good! I definitely come back there again. They also sell beef for customers. Marble Hida beef set is totally recommended with kimchi. Do not grill the beef to much!! 😗😗😗😗

**Make sure to write your name on the waitlist inside of the restaurant or you will not be seated. Additionally business was cutoff after customers arrived after 5:25 due to the long queue** Onto the real review — enjoyable experience. Beef was juicy and quite literally melts in your mouth. They have various dining spaces so some of are more private (enclosed) than others. My party of four ordered four platters and we struggled to finish the fourth. I would recommend to plan a second meal and treat this more like an appetizer as the meat is too rich/fatty to eat in large portions. Service wasn’t too spectacular so don’t have high expectations other than to order your meal, receive your food, and pay the bill.

We waited just under an hour on a busy public holiday, and were fortunate to be one of the last people to be accepted on the waiting list (which was closed at around 6:30 pm). We ordered the “yakiniku grill meat assortment” and struggled to finish it between the two of us! The meat was so deliciously fatty and sweet. Though Hida beef is relatively inexpensive, in my opinion it is one of the tastiest. The grill is an electric one. Though you lose out on the charcoal flavour, you won’t leave smelling like smoke and meat. A bowl of rice goes great with the grilled meats and assorted condiments. You call the attention of a server with a button. Otherwise, you are left entirely alone, something I did not mind at all.
