Hobar — Restaurant in Takayama

We stayed at the Mercure hotel and we chose an easy (though more expensive) evening and decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. I had the Hida beef bolognese pasta which tasted good (portion could maybe be a bit bigger), and my friend had a pizza. My friend was very disappointed because the crust was very burnt (both on the edge and the side underneath), he ate most of the pizza but left the parts of the crust on the outside (see picture). Pros: The meat was amazing — very tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The non-alcoholic cocktails and wines were surprisingly good. The Niçoise salad was decent, and the service was friendly.

An absolute gem in Takayama, a small town but this hotel delivers what other hotels should learn from. Although a smaller Mercure establishment, compared to all the rest of the hotels under the Accor portfolio, it has all the elements of a five star hotel.
