If you love gin, great vibes, and awesome people, Bar PURPLE PLUS is a must-visit in Takayama! This cozy little spot blew us away with its insane selection of Tatsumi Distillery small-batch gins—over 10 varieties, each one more amazing than the last. The highlights? The Anniversary Edition and the Wasabi Gin—seriously, you HAVE to try them!

But what really made us come back three nights in a row was the owner/bartender. This guy knows his stuff and makes every drink an experience. There’s no menu—just one-bottle batches, meaning every drink is special, and the prices are super reasonable. He took us on a gin journey, introduced us to different flavors, and made the whole experience fun, relaxed, and unforgettable. Plus, the mix of people who wander in makes for some great conversations.

We have spent three weeks in Japan and this bar has genuinely been one of the highlights of our visit. The owner, who tends the bar, is incredibly hospitable and welcoming to both tourists and locals. His English is very good and we really enjoyed speaking to him on both nights that we visited. He made us whatever cocktails we asked for and we also really enjoyed sampling the signature drinks which he recommended. This bar alone is worth the trip to Takayama. I am really surprised and greatful that a small bar in a small city like Takayama would carry such a wide range variety of spirits. If you're looking for good rare stuffs on the rock, store you should definitely come and check this place out.

Big range that you can't find in regular liquor store, and many small batches from locol distillery.

Yet, The bartender is very friendly, which makes atmosphere is really really casual. Unlike other Japanese bar.. where everything seems to be very serious.
