If you want to have a taste of hida beef and sushi, but don’t want to spend lots money or time in a fancy restaurant. This standing food store is in your first priority. 4 combinations can be chooses. A B C and X. My suggestion to have C and X. Give the X is using the best beef for sushi, no reason to ignore that. C is purely a combination from A and B. Thus X+C can provide you the best pair to enjoy the meal. As for the price, totally workable for everyone. Even the X is only 1000yen which is close to less than 10 dollar. It’s no way to have 2 handmade sushi by real JPese chef with best hida beef in the state. No wonder the review rating is a high one.

This sushi shop, located on the charming old streets of Takayama, is famous for its fresh wagyu beef sushi. It's a popular spot with lines often forming. The beef is incredibly fresh and flavorful, perfectly paired with their unique sauces. The "C" combination is particularly delightful, while the "X" set offers a more luxurious experience with even better quality beef. The sushi is served on top of a crunchy rice cracker, adding a nice texture to each bite. There's also seating available inside if you prefer to dine in.

I followed the crowd, believing long queue means something but I was wrong. Compared to Sakaguchiya across the street, Hida Gyu Nigiri here comes way behind in terms of finesse; that final touch which separates the great from the good. The beef is tender alright but it’s not as aromatic as the other shop. Try both shops and you’ll understand. Good thing here is seatings. You can sit and eat and be a little more civilized. Using rice crackers as plates is also great idea; yummy and saves the earth at the same time.

If you’re in takayama and you like to eat beef this is a must get. For 1000Y you get probably the most iconic and aesthetic looking dish in takayama, and some solid quality beef. I came around 4+ close to their closing time and there was still a short queue. There are 4 choices, this is choice C which is a variety of everything - beef with salt, beef with soya sauce and minced beef with egg yolk. It is served on top of a crispy rice cracker which is also seriously good. Eating it there is a such a vibe.

This place was always crowded when we would walk by. Finally caught it on a rainy day when there were not that many people in line so we gave it a shot. Great sushi, the ones with the seaweed and egg. The other ones were decent but not with the wait. I don't know why, but Japanese coke in a glass bottle just tastes better. No need to put it in the glass. Just drink it straight from the bottle.

Located along the shopping street, which you will see people queuing! The queue moves pretty fast. We tried Set C, with the medium rare Hida beef, ginger soy sauce, salt and Gunkan! It was good. Personally we felt that it’s a very worth it 1,000 YEN spent. The beef really melt in your mouth! 🤩 not forgetting the rice cracker they used it as a “plate”. It tasted delicious too!
