Kamon — Restaurant in Takayama

Had the most incredible time here - made sure to arrive about 20 mins before opening and secured the second spot in the queue and my was it worth it. First of all the atmosphere is great, you’re welcomed by super friendly staff before placing your order via a machine (with the option to order in English) and being shown to your seat. In the back of the restaurant you have great views over the river, was really nice to do this at sunset. We both went for the creamy chicken white broth ramen and it was incredible, best ramen I’ve had in Japan so far. They freshly make their own noodles in house and all ingredients are locally sourced. Instantly feel welcomed right when i stepped in. The waitress ask where we came from, i shared her my origin country, she informed it to the rest of the staff and then a few of them greeted me in my home country language! Really sweet and nice gesture

What an excellent experience! The lovely staff gave me a wonderful welcoming feeling from the moment I stepped into the shop. The interior design is elegant and they only use local ingredients for the food. I tried the white chicken foam ramen and it's an outstanding gourmet experience. The broth is packed with flavor, the toppings are delicate and the presentation artsy. The noodles are homemade, thin and had the perfect bite.
