After failing to get on the waitlist at some other Hida beef spots, we can across this place with no wait. They offered a Hida Beef Plate which gives you a variety of 4 cuts and we added a fillet separately.

The meat overall is incredible soft and fatty. It doesn't look like a lot of meat but because of how rich it is, it felt like enough. My preference in cuts were as follows: Fillet steak - best bite from both texture & tenderness Top-grade loin Sirloin steak Rump steak - a bit on the tougher side Top-grade short rib - too fatty and rich

There's multiple ways to enjoy the meat with - with salt, pepper, lemon, wasabi, garlic, and variety of soy/sweet sauces.

We randomly picked this place for dinner since all the famous yakiniku restaurants were fully booked during the holiday.

I would say the restaurant isn’t bad at all. They offer different sets of Hida beef to try, and you can also order the beef without a set. We ordered a mixed set with various cuts of beef. All the beef was great, and some parts were so tender and soft.

The restaurant serves homemade sauce along with other sauces. Personally, I prefer just the sauce with a bit of salt.

The price is a bit high compared to the atmosphere and the other restaurants...

A5 and A4 Hida beef at Yakiniku Kaede, Takayama Old Town. ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️ It was "very oishi" just as recommended by our Japanese friend so we had seconds and felt so stuffed but happy. Also ordered their signature Hida beef curry, my lil one didn't like it too much, a tad too sweet
