We were looking for a TA top restaurant when we chanced upon this one. It totally deserves more that the current star rating, and honestly one of the BEST noodles we have had in Japan. No 3 is dry noodles and it is slightly thicker with a springy texture. Added chilli sauce and reminded me of my comfort food in Singapore except much better. The ramen soup was a clear fragrant broth and the Hida beef yakitori paired with the salt was exceptional! Will def come back to this place if ever I am in Takayama again. Do yourself a favour and eat here!

Despite all the raving reviews I'm probably in the minority with my opinion, but hear me out. I tried the third expensive variety, dry ramen with A5 Hida beef for 2400y. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. You order with a ticket machine and there is are japanese and English descriptions. The bowl was served and it looked amazing. Thick chewy noodles with the right bite, a creamy coating when you mix it with the poached egg and a slightly spicy, peppery flavor. But the beef, - despite being tender and cooked just right - had a weird, sour taste. I'm aware that there can be various reasons for that, for example wet aging or acidic soil with grass fed cows, but for beef in that price range I expect everything , nutty, fatty, buttery, etc. but no sour taste. Maybe just bad luck, maybe that's normal for this kind of beef, I don't know. But that's the reason for the low rating. Really nice place but the beef is definitely not worth the money I'm afraid.

Liked it so much we had to come back again! The first time they were closed but the owner was very kind. We came back the next day and there was a little wait, but well worth it! The broth was light but full of flavor and you could tell the noodles were freshly made. These were some of my favorite eggs so far in Japan. And the beef was delicious! Such a good experience with friendly staff and amazing food. Highly recommend!

Had ramen #4 with hida beef. Broth was excellent, first time we had hida beef,it was tender , flavorful, tasted like beef yet very distinctive. Not gamey or animal-y, but not like wagyu or American beef, thankfully. Noodles were cooked al dente, enjoyed the touch of lemon, not mushy or overcooked, broth was so good we drank the whole bowl, that’s happened only once in my life. Great noodles, thanks for a great dinner!

Absolutely fabulous ramen with Hida beef. We tried both soup noodles with slices of beef and dipping noodles with grilled steak. Both were amazing. The soup noodles had a light soup base which put an excellent focus on the original taste of the beef, while the dripping noodles had thicker sauce and matched perfectly with the seasoned steak. Everything was perfect. Very reasonably priced too.

Japanese point of view it was pretty average ramen. Only one guy when I walked in so didn't expect perfect service although smile or attitude are always good to have in this hospitality business. Taste, as mentioned average. Price is fine for the location. Not for the taste. A piece of leek in a water glass isn't very pleasant to see before meal. Would go back if I had no other options.
