Nappa — Restaurant in Takayama

We ate here on a Saturday and there was a market-thing outside. I suppose that was part of the reason why it was so empty, as everyone was eating at the stands. The menu is limited, two types of ramen and 4 beef steak options. The lady serving us food seemed to enjoy explaining the menu, and it was rather wholesome.

We had the Beef ramen + hida beef loin sushi, and the hida beef steak (small). The broth was flavoursome (unlike what others have said), the meat was rich and juicy (like what you would expect of beef ramen). The beef steak was absolutely delicious, it was tender and almost melted in your mouth. It came with a broth cup, rice, salad with tomato and a bowl of pickled cucumber. The drinks were limited, but cold water on the table, beers as you can get everywhere and a cold coke. Nothing to complain, had a nice dinner and paid.

Just hungry and after being rejected 4+ times everywhere else, this was good.

Cozy little mom-and-pop place run by an older couple. They're incredibly welcoming and nice. There’s traditional tatami seating and the menu is really simple. You either get Hida beef slices (small or big) as a set or get a ramen set (beef or pork) that comes with two pieces of Hida beef sushi.

We chose the ramen with sushi set (¥1900). The beef sushi was torched just for a second so it’s basically rare and the texture just melts in your mouth. The ramen was light and refreshing. I think Hida ramen uses chicken broth.

Highly recommend if you’re in the area. It’s right by the river across Takayama old town so location is...

I was wandering in the chilliness incredibly ravenous, I went to every diner in the street but they were all closed. That was when I came across this treasure. I stepped in and the server brought me to the second floor, where I ate on Tatami flooring, I placed my order for Pork Ramen, and it arrived extraordinarily rapidly, the server was remarkably useful.

I enjoyed my ramen and when I sauntered down to pay, the aged fellow downstairs provided me snacks and exhibited me his anthology of banknotes, which comprised geriatric and recent Thai Baht banknotes.

I approvingly suggest this store, they have the best ramen...
