We arrived there close to 2 pm on Tuesday, during the busy Obon holiday season. The line wasn’t too long so we decided to line up and wait. Luckily, we were able to secure our spots (the couple behind us were the last ones allowed) since they would run out their soup base. The folks line up after them were asked to leave at that point. The line moved quickly, and we were seated without much delay after they took our order outside. This one houses more people and consequently more popular. This Takayama ramen is very overrated and overpriced in my opinion. Nearly 2000 yen for a bowl with wonton is highway robbery. The Asahi super dry bottle was 1200 yen so I didn’t bother to order one. Still a good bowl though, but obviously hype and marketing added to the selling point. At the counter you can tip to receive their chopstick with “thanks” written on it. Read moreWent in mid November 2023, chanced upon this shop as there was a long queue, but the queue moved very quickly and I got to eat mine in less than half hour. The wait was very worth it! Rich broth without feeling greasy, good textured noodles, soft succulent pork slices with awesome tamago. Broth has the nice woody taste unique to Takayama! Though I was quite sick that day, my appetite came back thanks to this. Also, thanks for the v warm welcome, for both the staffs and the owner :) Seee you again soon!
