Felt like eating Italian tonight on my 8th visit to Japan. I originally aimed to eat Pizza Gofu. But I was denied at the door due to a fully booked evening. So I strolled along this street and stumbled upon Diletto, and boy am I glad I did. It’s a small restaurant that maybe seats 18 people max, but exudes a certain home-like feel. It’s almost like you’re eating at your local go-to restaurant. It’s not upscale, not fancy, not snobby and that’s maybe why I enjoyed it so much. This is a tiny unpretentious place close to where I leave, I was just tired and needed some good food, so I decided to give it a try. And you know what? I had some fantastic spaghetti with seafood, nothing less than as good as I could get it in Rome or on some Italian village on the coast. The spaghetti were cooked PERFETTI, “al dente“ like only in Italy you usually get them in a restaurant, and the seafood was really tasty, slightly cooked, not overcooked. In retrospect it should not be a surprise that seafood is tasty and fresh in Tokyo, right?
