At least we don't have to tip, as said in reference to the service we received. We recognize that it was a busy night, they were able to seat us, and the restaurant was clearly understaffed. None of that had to do with us not getting requested items like salt and pepper, spare plates, or any other manner of things that every other table seemed to be getting in abundance. Our table looked like a barren waste for 2 plates, an appetizer plate, and utensil basket while other tables were overflowing with things that needed to be cleared away for the same amount of food and drink. We'd understand if we got these things delayed, but we didn't get any of these things at all while other tables right next to us got spare glasses, spare plates, and spare attention. We would have ordered extra drinks if we thought there was a chance we'd actually get them. Our waiter walked past us empty handed to service another table multiple times rather than bring us any of our requested items. In the end, we did without these things, ate, and left disappointed. If you're White or Japanese, you're golden. Everyone else, you're out of luck.
Decent food and expected decor, a fairly large space for a Japanese restaurant. By far the most disappointing service experience we've ever had in Japan over 4 trips to this country. Definitely not in keeping with the normal excellence of other restaurants. Only go if you have no other options. I'd rather choose Konbini (7 Eleven/Family Mart) food...

We were staying in Tokyo for our honeymoon and, being vegetarian, there weren't many places we could eat. Buco di Muro had us covered.
This restaurant has such a delightful atmosphere and the staff are a lot friendlier to tourists than the majority of places in Tokyo. They could not do enough for us and made our honeymoon a magical experience.
We have been to Italy, and the thing that struck us about the food in this unassuming Tokyo restaurant was just how close it was to "proper" Italian cuisine. The pizza had that handmade Italian quality to it, perfectly cooked with superb sauce and dough. The pasta was cooked aldante and with meticulous attention to detail.
We loved this place so much we found ourselves ordering an extra main course to treat ourselves!
The best Italian restaurant in Tokyo that gives a lot of restaurants in Italy a run for...
Read moreAfter 2 weeks in Japan decided to try non-Japanese cuisine. The reviews seemed mixed on Buco Di Muro but the restaurant has been in business for over 60 years and it is only a few steps from my hotel. We ordered the appetizer fries, Parmesan salad, spicy penne pasta and margarita pizza. We sat outside which was nice as the heat lamp allowed me to remove my coat. The server forgot about us but luckily the Japanese family next to us noticed and called over the wait staff. At that point was not feeling good about the choice but once the food arrived we were in for a treat. All items were fresh and tasty. The pasta was outstanding and the sauce so good it rivaled restaurants I have eaten at in Italy. We loved the pizza dough, cooked to perfection with just enough burn to avoid being overdone and good chew. The sauce was great and mozzarella chunks delicious. It was so good I went inside the restaurant, hunted down the server and ordered a...
