We stayed at The B Ginza for 7 nights from October 26-Nov 2 and were so pleased. I had a hard time finalizing where to stay in Tokyo, but I’m so glad we chose this hotel.
It was my husband and I’s first time in Japan and this was the most affordable place I could find considering we wanted a minimum Queen size / non-smoking bed. We highly recommend this hotel. Don’t sleep on it!
Firstly, the hotel staff are amazing. For the most part, almost everyone spoke and understood English. Check-in and check-out was so easy. There are machines that you use to do this, but there is staff to assist you along the process.
In addition, the staff who cleaned our rooms and changed our towels were super friendly. They change towels everyday and clean the room every 3 days, which was actually really great. We’re not really fussy, and this was perfect for us.
The beds are hollow underneath, which is one of the main reasons we choose this hotel. Because of this, we were able to store our luggages under the bed and out of the way.
The bed overall was comfy, but we only had one pillow each.
Bidet is great, as per usual in Japan. The real highlight is the shower, as it comes with jets!
Also- the hotel as all the amenities you need in their amenity bar at the lobby: Pyjamas, slippers, toothbrush & toothpaste, hair brush and ties, face wash, lotion, cream, gel, even shoe polish and body towels (like loofahs). It was so fantastic and helped us minimize the toiletries we needed to bring on the trip.
Some other great perks include free pancakes every morning (first come first serve- so delicious btw), and a free drink daily per guest (your choice of alcohol or juice from their mini fridge) in the lobby. They also have coffee and tea, which we didn’t get to try, but nice to have that option.
There is laundry onsite. We didn’t use it but it’s available for a fee. Also, there are communal tables/spaces for hanging out in the lobby. We saw other hotel guests working on their laptops down there. There’s a restaurant, but never tried.
In terms of location, we loved being in Ginza overall (close to shopping if you’re into that like we were, and SO MANY great food places nearby - Ginza in general is so beautiful) …and this hotel in particular because it is so close to Family Mart (2 min walk) and 7-Eleven (3 min walk). We would enjoy grabbing breakfast at either convenient stores, as well as snacks after a long day out. Don Quijote is also nearby (2 min walk) and we opted to go here than the ones in busier locations like Shibuya. It’s open 24 hours and not as busy as every other location.
It’s also quite close to transit, about a 7 min walk, and super easy to get around from here as a base (20 min to Shibuya station).
Finally, it’s about a 6 min walk from Shimbashi station if you’re commuting in from the airport. We took a cab from Haneda since we arrived late at night and were tired from our long flight and layover. It cost about $80-90 CAD in case you were...
Read moreFor the price point, you can’t beat this hotel for location in Tokyo. The hotel is clean and easily accessible.
We had a king room on the top floor. The room is small but that’s expected in Tokyo. There was about a foot space between the window and the bed and 2.4 feet in the other side. The carpet has no padding underneath and I found the bed too firm and pillows too flat - two of the four pillows in the room had some strange bead like texture on one side. We asked for two additional pillows and the girl at the front desk looked at me like I had three heads. Request denied. There is no closet - only four wooden hangars on short rods protruding from the wall near the door to the room.
The bathroom is great, though. Toilet and sink across from each other with shower in back. The toilet is modern like most in Japan with bidet options and button flushing. Shower has rain shower head and massaging jets, lots of water pressure and as hot as you like. Because of the high humidity in Tokyo, I frequently took a shower before bed and again in the morning. The towels are very thin so we asked for four towels and again, our request was met with skepticism. We got four towels one day, three the next and back to two by our last day.
We were told they would fully clean the room every 3 days but while it appears they cleaned the shower, they didn’t change the bed linens. However, they did change towels, take out garbage, and replenish the water bottles daily (2 free battles per day).
There is a very convenient Son Quixote and Family Mart on the corner for ATM and snacks. Also close to restaurants and shopping in Ginza while still being quiet enough to sleep.
Six minute walk to the Shimbashi station (use exit 1 for quickest access).
The lobby is confusingly on the second floor and hotel staff were a mix - some were helpful but others were downright hostile which is very unusual for Tokyo. Our room price included breakfast and one drink per night, either in the bar downstairs or from the honor system refrigerator in the lobby.
The breakfast was ok with scrambled eggs, sausage, fried rice, cereal and milk, pastries, fresh fruit (orange, banana or kiwi), boxed juices, coffee and tea. The breakfast staff were always polite and kept...
Read moreStayed here during end of March for 4 nights in a quadruple room ( it was actually 2 rooms with connecting door). Location : it is a strategic location, 2 mins walk to main luxury shopping street. Check in on first floor. Room: It is a standard tokyo size room for 2, with limited luggage space. It is clean and modern. The shower room is amazing. Strong with functional massaging. Yes it works nicely. You can get all amenities including pyjamas on first floor. The coffee machine with the ability to print your own photo on the milk foam. They provide self made pancake machine but it tend to run out by 8am. Never have a chance to try out the so call free pastry in the morning ( run out by 8am ). The location is very closed to Shimbashi and Ginza Line. From there you can get direct metro to Shinjuku, Shibaya , Asakusa. On weekend, the main street is open only to pedestrian. Both the tube station are walkable for those who enjoy walking. It take less than 10 mins if you don't stop at the shops.( Believe me you will). I didn't use the IC card. I only buy the metro tickets at the station before travel. Choose English and select your location. Very self explanatory. The only thing to bare in mind is that there are a lot of exit from the station. Do use Google Map and use the exit as suggested. Internet works well in the metro. The taxi is not unreasonable and the drivers are honest. I use a few times and the rate are 100% within the price suggested by UBER. There are 3 local restaurants nearby. No English menu and use by local. One seve freshly made soba noodles. It is about 500 Yen with free water. If you go for the 700 Yen option, it tend to come with rice and noodle. Do avoid lunch or dinner time when lots of local waiting. Overall Ginza is a safe and nice area to stay. Very much prefer here than the busy Shinjuku or Shinbuya. It's a lovely boutique hotel. ( Clean towels and water supplied everyday. Cleaning will need to be requested). There are lots of convenient store nearby including 7 Eleven. All 7 Eleven has their own ATM machine ( can be hidden but ask the staff). It is good in getting YEN and it will accept international debit or credit card. The rate is good and fees is displayed before...
