We came here around 1 for lunch on a Friday, and had to wait around 10-15 min before we were seated. The line moved quickly even though it was packed inside the restaurant. When we sat down, we were handed the lunch menu in Japanese, but we asked the young waitress if we could get the English menu since I saw there was an english menu on Google maps. She immediately said they didn’t have one and walked away.
We were ready to order 5-10 minutes later so we raised our hands to get their attention, but the older waitress just handed us the English menu before we said anything, so now I’m just annoyed with how rude the first waitress was.
Anyway, we ordered the papaya salad, the green curry with eggplant and chicken, pad thai, and 2 thai iced teas. Their Thai iced teas are a bit different from the thai iced teas made in the U.S. Here, I was given thai tea without condensed milk. Instead, they give you simple syrup and creamer. Even after mixing all that in, it still wasn’t as tasty as the ones I’m used to, so I definitely don’t recommend it if you’re expecting Thai tea made with condensed milk.
I would say our papaya salad and green curry was pretty good. The papaya salad had the perfect spicy and tanginess to it. The green curry had plenty of chicken and eggplants in it. It was a good portion of food for the price. The pad Thai was mediocre to me. The flavor profile just didn’t...
Read moreWe came for dinner at a Thai restaurant located on the third floor. The first thing you see is a tall wooden statue of a Thai woman with bare breasts. It was there by the door while we waited. The wait was worth it despite the statue- just stare at the high relief door instead. The service, food, atmosphere was excellent. They have many helpers at this restaurant. They set very nice blue and white dishes for us. The extensive menu had pictures & English. I recommend the Tom yum soup especially if you have a cold. We also ordered Jasmine rice and sticky rice. The stir fried clams were delicious & generous. The chicken satay was also a large portion and grilled nicely with a peanut? sauce. I also had the hot tea and was surprised when she asked me what kind? I had the oolong but there were other choices to speak to your palate. We cleaned our plates clean and would come back again. Dinner was boisterous, as many people were having dinner, drinking and conversing. I’d come back again. If you follow Google maps, look up at the signs on the buildings in Shinjuku, we almost missed it except for a small square sign above our heads. You walk into what looks like a stairwell and climb up or take the elevator. Enjoy your meal! (Take spicy precautions- see the red chilis...
Read moreFood was edible and they had English menu. I was disappointed with the food here. First off, Thai iced tea tasted nothing like it’s supposed to be. Watered down tea with barely any flavor. I ordered the Thai BBQ chicken which didn’t have much flavor and it was very dry and over cooked. They had some spicy dipping sauce also. The Thai fried noodle with pork and shrimp was worse. Only one shrimp and the noodles were smushy without much flavor. It had some peanuts on the bottom though. People around me ordered the seafood curry so maybe that’s alright, but I would be skeptical based on my experience. Staff didn’t refill water or make space on table for food or take away finished plates or take away the menu on my table. Don’t recommend any of the dishes that I tried.
Thai fried noodle with pork and shrimp = flavorless, smushy noodles with one shrimp Thai iced tea = watered down tea that didn’t have the rich tea aroma and sweet flavor expected (they gave you sugar water to make it sweet though) Thai BBQ chicken = dry, over cooked chicken without much flavor (didn’t try the spicy...
