I stayed at Super Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho and overall had a pleasant experience.

The location is convenient, right in Kabukicho, but the hotel is slightly tucked inside and the road leading to it is not very pedestrian friendly as cars also use the path. There is a 7 Eleven right across the street, and I found it to be the best stocked convenience store in the area.

That said, if it is your first time visiting Kabukicho, you might find the area a bit overwhelming. There are many nightlife establishments nearby, and it is not unusual to see drunk people lying on the street or groups of girls hanging around at night. Although Japan is generally very safe, I would not recommend staying in Kabukicho if you are traveling with young children.

The room is very small, which is expected for a budget hotel in Tokyo. That said, I really appreciated the thoughtful touches. If you are a female guest, they provide a daily amenity kit. I booked a ladies' room, and the hairdryer was a ReFa, which was very powerful, and there was even a curling iron.

The bed was comfortable, although I found the pillow average. Luckily, you can choose from a variety of pillows at the lobby, which is a very nice detail.

There is an artificial hot spring bath in the hotel. It is a shared facility with different time slots for men and women. However, the women’s time ends quite early, only until 10:50 PM. Also, I do not know if it was because I stayed on a high floor, but the water pressure in the shower was very weak, so I ended up going to the bathhouse every night to shower.

One of the best things is that breakfast is included. It ends at 9:30 AM, so you need to get up a bit earlier. It is not a huge spread, but definitely enough. Mostly Japanese style with rice, soup, fish, egg, some bread, coffee, juice, and even fruit, which is great since fruit in Japan can be expensive.

Another great point is that they have self service laundry, and it only costs 100 yen, including detergent and drying. For that price, it is unbeatable.

They also offer free drinks and alcohol every evening from 6 PM to 7 PM.

However, I would like to raise a serious concern regarding the public bath at the hotel.

Just now, I witnessed two individuals who appeared to be non guests entering the bath area. Shockingly, they went straight into the bath without even rinsing themselves beforehand. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. They were wearing sneakers and had no towels, which makes it unlikely they were real guests.

On another occasion, we also experienced someone loitering outside the hotel entrance at night. After we entered using the access password, that person followed us inside. This raises serious concerns about overall security.

There are quite a few homeless people in the area, and we believe some of them sneak into the hotel late at night to use the laundry or bath, especially since there is no staff at reception after midnight. This makes the situation even more concerning.

Honestly, I strongly advise against using the bath. It feels dirty and poorly managed in terms of hygiene and access control.

Also, the WiFi was basically unusable. It never connected successfully throughout my stay.

The worst part was the room door code. It constantly failed, and I was often locked out. When I told the staff, they just told me to wait ten minutes and try again. So every day I had to stand in the hallway for ten minutes trying repeatedly to get back into the room.

When I raised the issue again, they said if I wanted it fixed, I would need to leave the room early and stay out for a long period, as the repair would take time and I would not be allowed to return until it was done. This was completely unreasonable.

Overall, the hotel responded to our complaints with a very indifferent attitude. I am extremely disappointed. I will not stay at any hotel under this...

This hotel is close to Shin Okubo station. There are convinience store around like Family Mart, 7-11 and Lawson. Near to Don Quijote (there are 3 nearby which I visited) & BIC Camera. I booked this hotel via Agoda, checking in is so easy. Hotel staffs are friendly & accommodating. On the lobby beside the elevator they provide pyjamas, toothbrush with toothpaste, razor, hairbrush and green tea, you can grab some whenever you're going up to your room. If you prefer staying here you can unload some of those stuff in your baggages as it is all provided. Room is not too big but the bed is enough for two. You can put your luggages under the bed as it has enough space for it. Electric water kettle and mugs are provided in every room. There is bath tub, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in every toilet. They clean the room daily, change beddings and towels. Charging outlet are provided with different types of port depending on your phone brand (android or iphone). Toilets have a warm seat and water, you can even set it on your preferred temperature. Water from the faucet is safe for drinking too . Public carbonated bath with locker is on the second floor. Coin operated washing and vendo machine is on this floor too. Buffet breakfast, choose what you like to eat. There is a Flipino speaking staff in the dining area. We are a group of 4 and first time traveller to Japan we booked 2 rooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and definitely come back whenever we visit Tokyo again. This hotel is highly...

Some of the positives: Free wifi, fast internet Super friendly and helpful staff Free breakfast, the kitchen staff try to make the food different every day. Quality of the food was great! Good location, 10 minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station, 5 minute walk from Seibu-Shinjuku train station, heaps of entertainment at night in Kabuchiko Coin laundry and vending machine - very clean Free hot spring, though we didn’t try

Negatives: Rooms were quite small compared to nearby hotels in the same price range Slightly far from the JR station Single lift which is severely congested in the morning

Other observations: Can get free water, linen if you put a sign up, instead of having the housekeeping clean the whole room. Small gift if you return unused/unopened toothbrushes Free dryer service Shelf in the lobby next to the lift has a “library” of pillows in case the standard one in the room is not to your liking. There are pillows of differing soft/hardness. Can also pick up clean set of pyjamas every day. Remember to return your dishes and tray after breakfast Don’t wear slippers down to breakfast Breakfast service is between 7-9:30am Breakfast includes both western and...

The location is convenient if you enjoy being near the bars and clubs at Kabukicho, but the overall experience was underwhelming. While the small room size is typical for Tokyo, the thick mattress was in poor condition and there was no proper bed linen, with only a thin mattress on top. We had trouble sleeping due to the uncomfortable pillows filled with beads, and although soft pillows were available at reception, we had concerns about their cleanliness. The air conditioning unit seemed old and poorly maintained, which triggered our nose allergies and made us feel unwell. The mirror in the room was also not properly maintained. Additionally, the onsen is shared between men and women, but with staggered timings which might not be ideal for everyone. The breakfast area was cramped, with little space to move if others were already seated, making the dining experience uncomfortable. Lastly, check out is strictly at 10 am with no room for negotiation, which was inconvenient. Overall, we did not have a comfortable stay and it was not worth the price we paid.
