Blue Bottle Coffee Sangenjaya — Restaurant in Tokyo

This is a nice place but quality control of the coffee is not great. I watched them pour an espresso and it took 20 seconds for the pour to start coming out. Once it started the barista shut it off with only about 10g of coffee in the cup. It was a horrible pour.

After the shot the barista knocked the puck out and put the pf back in the machine without wiping it out. This is inexcusable for a real cafe. The drip coffee was fine but not great. People working here don’t know anything about coffee from what I could see.

I’ve had good experiences at Blue Bottle cafes but this was not one of them. The atmosphere is nice and you can easily relax here, but the coffee is not good. Really...

I came to this cafe because I heard that they are famous for their drip coffee. And so I went there and tried their holiday blend. And it was a let down... I am in no position to say what is a good coffee and a bad coffee, but I didn’t like their coffee... I have experienced how your technique of dripping coffee changes the taste, it may be the temperature, how small the coffee beans are grinned, the way it was or even how long it was poured. And the coffee I had was... acidic...

On the other hand, the interior looks wonderful. However, it would’ve been better if they had better coffee.

I shall try other blue bottle branches to see if the coffee...

Went there on 10:30AM on a weekday, most tables were occupied, so it was busier than expected, but there are also several universities in the area including the English speaking Temple University, so lots of foreigners here. They have an English menu and staff spoke English. Staff was friendly too.

I had a Hot Nola and shared a Basque Cheesecake with my friend who had a hot Americano.

The Nola was good, not too sweet and very Milky. The Cheesecake was delicious. The seating Area seems large compared to other cafes inter immediate area and pretty stylish.
