Boulangerie Bonheur Sakae-dōri — Restaurant in Tokyo

The place was recommended to me by a friends coworker and I must say it didn't disappoint. I love going to different bakeries and try their croissants. This croissant over here was delicious. The smell, taste and overall flavor was excellent. They warmed it up for me and that definitely helped. The texture and butter flavor is superb. Additionally, I had the shops most popular chocolate bread which used high quality chocolate. The bread was soft and chewy (in a good way!). And the blueberry tart was delicious as well. Overall I paid around 1100yen for a coffee, corissants, chocolate bread and blueberry tart. Very reasonable.

The staff was extremely nice too.

They also have outdoor seating which I always appreciate since it gives me a European kind of vibe.

I've gotten breakfast here, on my way to work so many times. It's always dependable. Always good. I'll keep going back. It fills my belly so I have enough energy for a full day of teaching. It's not the most amazing gourmet experience, but it's really good for what it is. Inexpensive, quick, grab and go breakfast, early in the morning when almost nothing is open and I don't want a konbini egg salad sandwich.

The shrimp bisque roll sandwich bun thing is insane. It tastes so much like shrimp bisque. The bacon potato donut is donut consistency, super soft and yeasty, but not sweet. It's bagel flavored, but with lots of black pepper. I'm pretty sure it's fried like a donut. Then, cut like a sandwich and filled with potato salad and...

I stayed in Sangenjaya area in May. It has excellent bakeries and coffee shops. The rating I gave this boulangerie was for one item - the yeast doughnut. I tried various breads, they were all very good. However, the doughnut was a charmer for 2 reasons - the chew and the sesame sugar coating. Never, in my 66 years have I had a yeast doughnut with chew. Wow, how do they do that? The sesame sugar topping was also unexpected. It was lightly sweet with a definite nutty flavor.
