Despite comments, it was a really dreadful experience for me. The dependents were really rude and not polite. I felt really really bad on that place and it was the worse experience in Japan in my entire trip. First I came with my couple but I was the only one to stay there while my couple get out to keep buying, I ask an order only for me and the dependent was really upset for that and was pushing my couple to buy. We clarify that in english and also with google translate in Japanese but the guy barely answer so we didn’t know If he understood. They told us that the shop close at 19:30 pm that was ok. In the restaurant there were a lot of messages sticked in everywhere saying that almost all was deny or with threats: If you break something you pay it, don’t touch, If you use the bathroom you have to pay 1000 yen If you don’t ask something of the menu (it was really crazy the quantity of messages, really). Also before the close time I went to the bathroom but the dependent was cleaning it. I prefer no to use but he insist, however, he told me something in Japanese that I didn’t understand, but he was so intimidating that I prefer not try to use my device to talk with him. After get out of the bathroom this guy look at me as he wanted to kill me, I was figuring out what I did wrong but I never knew. I checked out the hour and it was 19:20 (before close time) so I never knew what was the problem. When finally my couple came back for me I get out immediately but it was like an...
Read moreMany people are saying foreign people aren't welcome here, but I'm super foreign, and I didn't feel unwelcome at all. Maybe it's something against the chinese/korean tourists? Frankly, they are not the best-behaved people in akihabara (those guys are super loud, and their manners in general need a lot of improvement...), so I could understand that I guess. The cheese hot-dog was like 70% melted cheese. I have a normal stomach I guess, but I couldn't eat it all, I was too full, and left a bite or two. They have an English menu outside, but inside it's all in Japanese. They got my drink wrong... but it was good anyway so I didn't care, they probably would have changed it if I asked. The food takes a couple of minutes to come, but not unusually long. The decoration/style is nice, kinda old Japanese style? with very old furniture, and cardboard "don't smoke" signs. The only thing I could was wasn't so nice, was that the 2F is for smoking, and it's very large, while the 1F, for non-smokers, has only like 10 seats (one sofa + single counter seats). So, it's smoking friendly. But the food was pretty nice, I might go again. Not many good cafes in akihabara, this place...
Read moreI went here a few years ago with a friend who was visiting Japan for the first time, as I had been living there for three years at that point.
We walked in, waited our turn, and I tried to ask a question about the difference between coffee sizes. I asked poorly at first (just “what’s the difference?”) but quickly realised my error and corrected myself to ask “is there extra coffee (shots) in the larger size?
Maybe that’s a stupid question, I don’t know. There aren’t many ‘proper’ cafes in the part of Japan I was living so I wanted to double-check. The guy on the ground floor was so rude and condescending. “The difference?”, he said. “The large size.... is bigger.” with a look of absolute derision on his face.
To be clear, I wasn’t expecting him to know English. I speak pretty good Japanese (JLPT N2 at the time, was studying for N1) but it didn’t matter. Maybe he just hates foreigners.
Don’t go here. It doesn’t feel like Japan. Once I realised we weren’t welcome I apologised to my friend and we left...
