A great store with literally tons and tons of fun for Otaku fans of Japanese culture. The Blu-ray collection of animations, PVC figure corner of various games and comics heroines(and heroes) and of course, the Eroge floor with thousands of Bishoujo games, both used and new. Some are priced even better than Amazon and some of their items are Sofmap exclusive, meaning that you can't buy them anywhere else, including online stores.

Also, for a store in Akihabara they are tolerant to tourists taking pictures of their showcases. I appreciate that as well.

If you are into these stuffs, I promise that you will have a great time even just browsing, probably for hours if not for the whole day. The only fault I can think of this place if you are an admirer of Japanese subculture is that many of the staff that work here seem to be some kind of Otaku themselves and it could be quite hard to understand what they are murmuring at you, particularly if you are a foreigner. At least that is the impression I get, every time I come here. And I've come here ten times at the very least.

Edit: As of February 2019, they moved the adult game corner of this shop to Sofmap 1 a block away and gathered the ladies’ corner, light novels and new PVC...

After popping in to almost every store in Akihabara that sold figures I have to say Sofmap was the least disappointing. Yes, just like the others its mostly stuff from the shows that are the most popular right now together with the big classics like Dragonball, One Piece etc. The same figures are sold at basically every store all over akihabara.

Sofmap sticks out because they actually have some different figures from older shows in stock as well and their prices are ok. Not any bargain prices but ok. That is in stark contrast to other places in the area which are up to 30% more expensive than stores in Ikebukuro and Nakano and up to 50% more expensive than...
