It was one of the most sketchy experiences of my trip to Japan. First of all, they really need to work on the theme. Customers pay for this and all they have done is maid dresses and pink paint in the restaurant. They have to do more.
After that, the server gave us a menu and asked us to choose from one of the deals. These were 4 combos to choose from. After repeatedly telling her that we just want a drink or a dessert, she kept insisting those 4 combos were the only option. After 4 or 5 times of telling her, then she went back to get a proper menu.
My research had suggested that the maids are supposed to come to you and sit down and speak to you. Heck, servers in North America speak to you more and make more small talk and they are not even in a theme or a show.
Later, two maids singing and dancing came to our table and asked us to draw a number from a box. They kept pointing and saying things in Japanese. Thinking this was part of the theme, my friend and I took a number out and we won a stupid glow sticks. Later we find out it's 600 yen for drawing it. Why the hell wouldn't you tell customers and try to mooch money out of it.
I would highly recommend you to think again before going here. Unimpressed. They should not advertise English if their staff cannot communicate with foreigners.
If anything, this is a place for little kids to go. It's a real life version of playing tea...
Read moreSimply a horrible experience. I was ushered in from the ground floor and agreed to enter only because I was told I could take pictures. Entered at about 8.50pm, only to find out that a cover charge of 540 yen (tax included) is required. It is very pricey but I decided to give it a go since it was my first time in Tokyo. I regretted instantly. The restaurant only had a few guests and the atmosphere was very dead. It was a drag. A performance was put up with a waitress dancing to music and I was stopped from taking a video and was forced to delete it. It was a simply awkward and horrendous dining experience. I later asked if I could get a picture with a waitress and was told no. We had to pay an additional few thousand yen just to get a picture with them! Turns out, the pictures were not allowed free-of-charge! Despite already having to pay 1080 yen of cover charge, guests are not even allowed to take any pictures? This is simply ridiculous. I only ordered 2 drinks and the total cost was ~2600 yen. I'm appalled by this, and to say I'm disappointment is a gross understatement. I'm never...
Read moreFirst time at a maid cafe and wanted to experience this aspect of Japan’s culture. Extremely underwhelmed from the staff, service, and food! The maids were very kind, but made several customers feel extremely awkward and I counted 4 people get up and leave without ordering any food or drink. I felt awkward myself, but i decided to endure the agony. Especially when one of the maids started acting cold when I wanted food and not the combo that they were trying to sell. The climate did get better over time. The cafe was also understaffed on a Friday Afternoon with two maids trying to service 20 people in the cafe. Interactions with the maids were very limited as they were super busy. My food came out cold and I saw one of the maids cough on another customer’s order?? On the good side, the dancing performance at 1215 was cute. In summary, the maids were kind and sweet,...
