Chōtoku — Restaurant in Tokyo

Waited an hour in queue 30 minutes before closing on a rainy Saturday afternoon, it was great that they served all the customers waiting inline even after closing time rather than enforcing a hard cutoff disappointing folks that have been waiting patiently.

While their signature fried rice is good, I wouldn't say it's worth the wait. The fried rice itself is not exceptionally outstanding and I suspect many simply convince themselves the dish is excellent after waiting so long.

Perfection in every dish (that we tried). Yes, it is quite far, but not for what it is. Constant queues of over half an hour (we waited 90 minutes in A Sunday lunchtime) says it all. The egg fried rice is absolutely superb, with rice, egg, oil, salt and spring onions being the only ingredients (though they use the oil to cook vegetable dishes in first). I tried the soy sauce taste fried rice (chahan shoyu aji) for 650 yen. A decent one, but I think it is a bit expensive. This small shop is popular so expect a queue. The other popular menu is fried dumpling (agè-győza), it comes in a portion of 6 for 600 yen. The dumpling included in some "best 100 shop for gyoza" thing. Will try it next time. But for the fried rice, I think you can get similar taste elsewhere with a bit cheaper price. The service is decent for fast...
