Really nice chuka restaurant! The service is excellent, and the dishes are made in a lighter and delicious way. For the quality and price (and the bib gourmand), it’s definitely worth it.
We went for dinner (lunch apparently had better deals)and ended up sharing our dishes since the portions are perfect for two to three people. Even though the signature dish is the Yodare chicken, you absolutely have to order it together with the gyoza that they recommend to eat with the tare sauce. The gyoza and dumplings come in customizable portions, which is great so you don’t end up ordering too much.
The black vinegar pork was actually one of the highlights for us, along with the Peking duck. The only small note is that the Peking duck portion felt a bit small for the price since it’s served as one roll.
Overall, the restaurant was really great, and we wanted to especially thank our female server from the evening :)

Read moreOutstanding Szechwan (Sichuan) restaurant. I wanted to try a local Michelin-star rated place for lunch, and this exceeded my expectations. The best dishes are definitely the spicy Sichuan options. Just look for the menu options with 1 or 2 or 3 chilli peppers next to the name. I recommend arriving before they open, as there was a 30+ minute wait for lunch on a Sunday. The head chef can be seen walking about serving dishes, busing tables, and talking to people lined up outside waiting for a table. Weekday lunch specials come with tea, soup, (all you can eat) rice, and entree, and dessert for 1,000 yen +. It is an amazing deal, especially considering the high quality and...
Read moreWe ordered one drooling chicken and one mapo tofu lunch set, and they were so delicious I can't wait to come back to try other lunch sets they offer. Keep in mind that they don't have an English menu. Another thing to note is that the service here isn't typical for Japan in that the waiters don't seem overly excited to see you when you enter the restaurant or bow extensively when you leave. They don't suggest any particular dishes, so you're somewhat on your own. After years of living in China, I've noticed that good Chinese food often comes with less-than-friendly service, so it doesn't bother me. However, I can see how it might be...
