Der Koffer — Restaurant in Tokyo

I was looking for a Good pancake place, and found this retro looking cafe near by skytree area. it has Good reviews and photos, so my husband and I went to check it out. ordered pancakes and blend coffee. The pancake looked a bit smaller than the photos, but good high to it. The texture was bit tough but we like it, and slight butter fragrance and sweetness to it. as I was finishing the first layer, I noticed baking sode after taste, so it put me off. my husband liked a lot . the blend coffee was okay, had some bitterness, but not much richness. The waitress didn't bring cream .... we had to ask , so knocked off 2 stars . by the way, some restrictions!! cash only and so on... pancake search...

This is an old school Japanese diner with exceptional service and lovely staff. However, Der Koffee is not built for gringos like myself. There weren't any English menus so I ordered by pointing at images on the menu like a 5 year old. The diner also smells like how you would imagine the pictures smell, like a thrift store.

Just to be clear, the smell and all Japanese menu are not negatives for me, as I feel it adds to the authenticity of the experience. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because the fifth star is for something that blows me away, and the food here was "just" good. You should...

One of the best little Japanese cafes we stopped at. Has drip coffee and a good selection of coffee beans to choose from maybe 6, along with a good selection of other drinks and food as well. Their pancakes are like usual in the dessert section. We have a great cup of coffee with some food here and really loved the vibe. Would go again.

Also they only have a Japanese menu but using Google translate on the picture worked...
