Made our way here after reading a review of this place in a magazine. Lined up outside since 11:15am (they open at 11:30) for 45 mins we finally got to make our order. Because we don't speak or read any Japanese we tried to order with English and gestures, we pointed at 3 different pictures (they were some of the most popular dish on their menu) he then had his arms crossed and said "sold out" for all of them. We came early to line up for that particular dish It was unbelievable how quickly they were all "sold out" considering we were one of the first 20 customers in line since they opened that day. So we finally ordered something that wasn't "sold out" after an hour of wait. Seats inside were obviously enough for more people to get inside (they let 1 person sit at a large table which apparently can fit 4 people, and slowly clean up tables after their customers leaves) instead of doing it in a more efficient manner they had to make people stand outside line up and wait. And guess what we saw someone who came in after us were having the "sold out" meal we were trying to order (yes I'm sure they were having one of the exact same meal in the pictures we pointed at). Those guys were speaking Japanese so they are Japanese locals I assume. I'm guessing tourists/ foreigners are unwelcome here. Fresh fish and food was decent but it was such an unpleasant experience. Would not come back again or recommend this...
Read moreThe best kaisen don EVER!!! Just like other popular restaurant, this place attracts a long line before it even opens. A lot of local people lining up for a place is always an indicator meaning the restaurant is of high quality. We waited for almost an hour at lunch time, and the English speaking staff was very friendly to us. They gave us our ticket and handed us the menu while waiting. You have to decide on what to order when you move to the head of the line. Basically you can order what you see from the photos on the menu, but there is one popular secret dish written in Japanese with no picture on the menu. It reads like this "朝一築地丼", which is a very popular assorted seafood don at a reasonable price. You can point "具增し" for 100 yen on your "朝一築地丼", which means adding extra seafood ingredients on your seafood don. You must also order their seafood miso soup "裏の名物", this super sweet and fresh miso soup uses 20 different kinds of fish to boil in together so you taste the sweet essence of the sea in this soup. It is very satisfying to have such a high quality assorted seafood don at a cheap price....
Read moreA very busy and popular Japanese restaurant in the Asakusa area, Noguchi Sengyoten is really worth a visit. The produce is delivered daily fresh from the markets and usually there's a queue to go in. It is though, worth the wait. The serving size, price and quality makes it great value for money. I highly recommend the Arajiru - the flavours of the ocean, as well as any of the recommended dons. If you are lucky enough to order the Tuna set (limited supply each day), make sure you have enough space. The servings are big, luckily I shared it with my friend. The oysters were also very sweet and large size. Highly recommend this...
