Fantastic cafe. I ordered a black coffee and a cheesy soup thing with bread. It's been about two weeks since I ate here so forgive my memory haha.
The coffee itself was nice. Had a pleasantly bitter taste. While I enjoy coffee I am not at the level where I can thoroughly describe it, so I hope you'll be satisfied with me simply saying that it was rather good. The bread was delicious. Had a type of garlic butter on it that really added a lot of taste. When paired with the soup it's like a match made in heaven. It absorbs the taste of the soup and really gets elevated to the next level. Now the soup itself was rather good, though the cheese was very strong and sharp, so if that's not your cup of tea, be forewarned. However, if it is, then you'll find this soup to be rather delicious, and fairly hearty. Was able to satisfy and American like me for several hours.
Now onto the service. I entered the shop and spoke broken Japanese to the waitress, who revealed that she happened to be fluent in English. Not sure if we got super lucky or if they all spoke English, but I digress. She was pretty helpful and brought us the wifi password, as well as translated some of the items we had trouble reading. Something you have to keep in mind that is culturally different from America is that unlike here, the servers don't have telepathy. What I mean is you can't stare at them and hope they come to you like they do in The States. Get used to saying "sumimasen!"(Excuse me!) and raising a hand to call em over, otherwise you'll never get service.
Despite this bit of culture shock, eating here was a rather pleasant experience that was filled with good food, a good atmosphere, and good people.
For sure come here if you...
Read moreHad an absolutely awful experience on Christmas.
I ordered a “chicken and cherry tomato with spinach ragù spaghetti”,waited for over 40 minutes for something that looks more like spaghetti aglio e olio, with no tomatoes in it. There were mushrooms for god knows what reason.
I asked for an explanation, wondering if this is what I ordered. The waiter guy came over, responded right away before finish listening, saying”no this is how ragù looks like”, and left the scene. I stopped another guy hoping him won’t be as rude as his colleague. Sadly, he also started with educating me on what ragù sauce means, despite the fact that this pasta clearly didn’t look like one in it.
They did admit that they made my order wrong after I pointed out about the missing tomatoes and mushrooms.
Interestingly, after we left the store me and my friends found that they gave as 1300 yen discount(20% off). No explanation where given but I guess that’s their way of asking us to shut up. By paying us 13 bucks haha :)
If you enjoy pairing food with cocky services please do pay a visit to this place. If not, there are so many other great brunch/bistro...
Read moreUPDATE: Had been to this place on 2025-Feb-17, and the service got worse. Specifically, front door reservation management caused us to loose significant time. We wrote our name into a list of people waiting for lunch, and we should be seated after a pair people. To our surprise, the stuff added a new list (!!!) with some other names put in between. We don’t know whether the reservations on that list should have came before or after us, but clearly it led us to waiting more than we originally expected seeing only a pair of people in front of us: if we had known 5 reservations had been in front of us, we wouldn’t have waited at all If we had known 5 reservations had been after us, but had been called earler than us, we would have pointed the stuff to a mistake.
Overall, it was bad experience and the stuff wasn’t managing front door queue reservations transparently and clearly.
Had been there several times for lunch and this place never disappoints. Though for the price, portions of some dishes seem quite small for my taste. Desserts there are...
