The attitude of the staff OBI and TOGUCHI from Shinjuku Kabukicho are super rude and dismissive, I have never met anyone in Japan horrible like them.

I checked-in at 8:30 pm, I was shocked about 1/4 of the room is not accessible due to the shape of the room and the bed’s position. I gonna rush to a shop which close at 9pm, I have no time to ask about that and it’s too late when I get back to the hotel. Since the check-out time is 10am, so I just go back and get some rest.

As I have been staying at this hotel quite a few time, and planning to stay again due to the location of the hotel, so I think I have to make things clearly.

Next day morning, while I’m enquiring the lobby staff OBI about that, she was so arrogant and kept rolling her eyes, her face was pissing me off while saying my room type is economy single, the fare difference is ¥500 with normal single, I shouldn’t have any question about that. Seems like ¥500 could buy the whole world and actually I just checked online, it is ¥300 difference for member. I don’t think there’s anyone would care about ¥500 and no one knows 1/4 of the room is inaccessible since this is not mentioned on the website. I even asked her why she’s so angry and showing me a scowl, she still continue to roll her eyes.

I told her actually I was not asking for any compensation or whatever, I was just suggesting them they should mention on the website or at check-in about this joke, unfortunately a guy without uniform and name badge came out, stated himself manager, shouted again and again my room is a economy room. I was wondering did they ever listened to my concern?

The male manager TOGUCHI called the police, without any violence happened, just like a kid without solving ability yelling at teacher in kindergarten. I just knew that the Japanese police force is affiliated with Toyoko-inn? Since time is already 9:30am and the staff asked me to check-out at 10am. So I have no time to wait the police, I have to go back to my room to pack my stuffs and promised I will get back to lobby at 10am. Who knows the 2 staffs bring the police to my room and forced me to open door. The most ridiculous thing is that the police told me there’s nothing to do with this situation. What??? The staff called the police not me, why come to my room to harass me because of the senseless of the staff. This is what a waste of police power, and it may also affect people who really need help!

These 2 staffs of Toyoko-inn are such abruptness, self-oriented, they really ruined my day in Tokyo and broke the image of Japan. This is no longer only service issue, a staff or a manger who don’t even have the ability to solve such a small problem, are they qualified to be at the front desk?

Ps. WiFi is not working in this room, probably because it’s the last room in the corridor. Sound insulation is not good, I heard snoring from...

I've been using Toyoko Inn hotel chain for many years and they are an excellent choice for travelers looking for a simple and real Japanese experience.|This is a business hotel chain so don't expect anything fancy, but if you want to experience a bit of salaryman kind of experience, go for it. The value for money is unbeatable in my opinion.||The check-in is late also for Japanese standards (4pm if you are not a member) so you might want to apply for a card membership online in advance. Members can check in at 3pm. Bear in mind that they are rather strict with this, so if you arrive earlier, leave your bags and explore Shinjuku.||The single room itself was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, plus they offer free toiletries and nightgowns in the reception area. The room also comes with a kettle, a fridge and a safe.|Unfortunately, I booked quite late so I ended up with a smoking room although I asked to spray it. However, you can still smell it. If you are a smoker that might be convenient for you (especially if you come from Europe where smoking rooms are a memory of the past).|The bed was comfortable with a straw pillow which can be hard for someone who is used to feather pillows.||Location: This hotel's location is very convenient, situated just a short walk from the metro shinjuku gyoen mae train station, not too far from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku kabukicho, but in a relatively calm area. It's a 15 minute walk from Shinjuku kabukicho (5 minutes by train) and there are a few restaurants nearby. ||Breakfast: complimentary breakfast which is a simple Japanese breakfast made by two energetic ladies with a generous offer of onigiri, sausages, scrambled eggs, miso soup, sweet bread, coffee etc. You can also take this back to your room in a box provided there if you don't want to eat in the lobby. ||Overall, I highly recommend Toyoko Inn to anyone looking for a budget-friendly, comfortable, and japanese business hotel style place to stay in Japan. The hotel offers excellent value for money and the location is great if you like a quieter place near the hustle...

*Tips for airport train and overnight luggage *Train to the Airport (from this hotel): If you will take the NE’X from Shinjuku JR to the airport, please use the elevator at exit 1 from 新宿御苑前站, NOT exit 3 as the train near exit 3 is heading to the opposite direction and you need to carry your heavy luggage going up & down the stairs!! . Remember to use exit 1 for getting the correct platform to Shinjuku JR station. *Overnight luggage: If you want to store your luggage overnight,it is better to use the lockers near the exit C6 of新宿三丁目站. C6 exit offers the elevator for travellers. The lockers lie near exit C7 and offer more than one night storage service(max 3 days). For the hotel’s closest metro station: 新宿御苑(after you have used the find lockers app), it only offers the coin- lockers for one day only and the elevator near this coin locker is provided by a building next to it and there is restriction on its opening time. This hotel can store your luggage on your check out day only. This hotel locates at a convenient spot but the storage service is a bit rigid. Complimentary breakfast is tasty and well served by the staffs , who are helpful and kind.Hope there are more flexible arrangement on the luggage storage in future.

I have zero complaints about this hotel. At no point did I feel dread about having to go back to the hotel. On the contrary. I felt right at home the second we spoke to the front desk staff. The lobby does not reflect the quality of the rooms, don't feel discouraged when you arrive. They have a system in place, where you will get a set of new towels every day. They will be placed on your door handle. You may leave your old ones in a plastic bag outside your door. You may also do the same with your trash bag. A new one will be provided daily with the new towels. Actual cleaning occurs in intervals as indicated to you at arrival. You can skip a cycle if you let the front desk know prior. This made me feel at ease, because I knew when I had to tidy up my stuff before somebody came in. Also, you knew when you could sleep in. There are several coffee shop chains around. Of course, there's also eateries and convenience stores. We got into the habit of grabbing a drink and a sandwich at the conbini at night and just hung out in the lobby. I am now a fan of Toyoko Inn and can't wait to try out their other locations!
