My wife and I just went there for dinner. I ordered the fish and chips, she had the margareta pizza, plus a side of 6 chicken wings. Let me start with the wings, I have had wings a lot of places over the world and never have I seen or tasted wings like this. Tomorrow I'm going check the local pigeon population for some hobbled pigeons. Chicken doesn't taste gamey...ever. the buffalo sauces couldn't even hide how bad theses were. Looking at the size.. .they could have been frogs legs come to think of it
onto the fish and chips. While a rather smallish portion it is $12 so I understand. It tasted like someone had gotten some 3 day old cardboard wrapped the longest frozen peice of fish (that you know sits in the bottom of freezer and gets the icicles on it) then fried it in 7 day old unfiltered oil. Not even the moderately ok tartare sauce could save it. The wedges seemed like they had seen better days. Fried in the same oil no doubt and not even a crystal of salt in sight. I could have licked the table and gotten more flavour.
The pizza was hmmmmm like if McCain cooked a pizza in a pizza over that had never been maintained to proper standards. I don't know what cheese was on there. It wasn't mozzarella and the pasta sauce. Most like came from a can. Most like the stuff you used to buy at the povo super market back in the day for like .30c a can, for you know the really big one
If you see this place and think....yehhh maybe I'll give it a go, maybe these guys just caught them on an off night, being close to Christmas and all. This is my warning to you. I've worked with food. I know when the things are bad and when corners are being cut. This place is cutting corners on cost and let me be clear. I wasn't expecting hells kitchen level of food but for the love of all things good. DO NOT GO HERE.
Oh the cherry tomato in the...
Read moreYou don't come to an English Pub in Tokyo for an exact replica of your local spot, you come to check out the Japanese interpretation of your usual favorite staples.
Most importantly for English speakers who might be reading this, they have an English menu and allergen info list on QR code to reference. Super convenient. The staff didn't speak much English but were very friendly and excited to hear us try out our Japanese on them.
We ordered 2 types of house special beer on tap, the fish and chips, and the Shepards Pie and all of it was delicious, but definitely not what we expected based on our previous experiences of pubs back home. The salad dressing looks like thousand island but tastes like BBQ. It's wild and fun!
Another bonus, they have comfy booths with free device charging spots and free wifi, so you can plug your phone in and rest your legs.
The mixed drinks look especially good and the local women seemed to prefer them while the guys drank beer like us. We would definitely come back on a...
Read moreBetter than average HUB. Opens earlier than all of the others in Ikebukuro and most other pubs. Visited on a Saturday by myself and it was quite crowded. Although you typically buy drinks and food at the counter, a staff member was floating around to help out. The beer is good and the food is not bad but a little expensive for the portions. Service was excellent for their business model. Because of the good beer and particularly the kind staff and very good service will go again when...
