HUB Hamamatsucho — Restaurant in Tokyo

I read another review with a similar experience which is the only reason I’m posting this as the owner said they would implement measures so that it wouldn’t happen again and that they were committed to ensuring every customer had a comfortable experience.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like this has changed. My husband and I walked in today and were greeted by the staff right away. The lady tried to sit us at a table with bar stools and I requested any table with the chairs with back support, as I am pregnant. There were at least 8 empty tables that would’ve been fine. She said okay and after we sat down, she came to us with her phone to show us a translation that said we would be asked to move if it got busy. I again explained that I am pregnant and need back support.

No customers should ever have to move when they were there first. It didn’t make any sense to go out of her way to suggest this to us. The pub never got busy so it never became an issue, but it’s weird to have this “policy”.

As per the food, it was just okay and my mocktail drink was about 3 sips worth.

The staff is very friendly, but I think proper business etiquette...

Although I was alone, I felt that the staff were attentive and pleasing, the bar could do with a couple of "Home drinks" which would make this a more quintessentially "British pub" but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are lively, attentive and more than happy to help at the drop of a hat.

If you Smoke, there is a smoking room available near the toilets.

Finally, the atmosphere feels exactly as a British pub should be, music in the background and people talking over it. This is exactly how things should be.

Hard to tell what it's like on a regular night but over the new years holiday on a very slow night it was great.

Not in the basement like many and a nice row of seats overlooking the street give it a bit less claustrophobic atmosphere.

Sports were on the TV but 80s and 90s retro rock was playing at a reasonable sound level.

Being a slow night meant no lineup for drinks and food came out quickly.
