Budget-priced, high-quality beef is generally thought an oxymoron in Japan, a country better known for its wagyu beef allegedly coming from super cows raised by vestige virgins to the tune of shamisens, and priced higher than a Ginza hostess.
Expect to be dissuaded from your beef-bias when you enter one of the many Ikinari steakhouses sprouting up all around the country. Ikinari specializes in steak, and nothing but the steak, sold at astoundingly low prices.
We visited the Ikinari-installation in Kamata, equidistant between its two train stations. I had the 400gram (14oz) ribeye, the Mrs. had the steak and chicken combo. The steak was an American import, the chicken’s provenance was a secret. A ribeye is easy to ruin, but mine was served juicy, rare as ordered, and it was very tasty.
I could have had a smaller portion than an American-sized 14oz steak. At Ikinari, the steaks are ordered by weight, and the cook puts each steak on a scale for everyone to see.
If you expect a rich assortment of starters and sides, you’ve come to the wrong place. My steak came with two broccoli, and it could have been ordered with a small salad, a beef soup, a blob of white rice, and a few sauces, that’s it. Service was prompt and efficient, we were in and out in less than 30 minutes, and had our dessert at the wonderful Cherry café a short block away.

それは店によっての個性も出やすいし、焼肉みたいに色々気を使わなくていいからである。(`_´)
そしてステーキといえば一時期、飛ぶ鳥を落とす勢いだったこちら。
イメージ的にステーキのファーストフードのようだったし、当時は何よりゴハンがおかわり自由ではなかったのでコスパ悪く感じ、未だにお伺いしたことがなかった。( ≖ᴥ≖)
