This was my first time experiencing Kaiseki cuisine, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place! Nestled in Shibuya, this gem truly exceeded all my expectations. The food was a masterpiece—carefully curated and thoughtfully presented from the very first course to the last.
What made the experience even more special was the chef's attention to detail. He not only shared the origins of the ingredients and cooking methods but also the stories behind the stunning gold-plated dishes, including the artists who created them.
The portions were generous, so I’m glad I came prepared with an empty stomach—it was totally worth it! Each dish was so beautifully plated that I couldn’t resist taking pictures of every single one.
We chose to sit right in front of the chef, and it was the best decision. He was so warm and charming throughout the evening, making us feel incredibly welcome. To top it all off, he even escorted us out and waited until we were safely on our way.
This was a truly remarkable and unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy an authentic...
Read moreMy family and I had an amazing dining experience at Imakoko. Our Japanese friend helped us with the booking based on the high rating on a website and it did not disappoint! Service was exceptional and we were greeted by the chef warmly at the start and the wait staff was so friendly. We even had a chat and took photo with the chefs Mr Okado the owner chef was super friendly and passionate about his dishes and where he sourced his ingredients from (his home town). Read moreI was invited by a friend I met overseas to have lunch at the Japanese restaurant "Imakoko" in Shinsen, Shibuya. The meal featured beautifully presented Japanese dishes, each crafted with seasonal ingredients. Every dish was a delightful experience, perfect for Japan's hot summer, from the fresh and flavorful tomatoes to the chilled somen noodles, hamo (conger eel), and cold corn potage. Each dish was delicate and absolutely delicious.
The highlight was the "Yakihassun," a platter so beautifully arranged that it drew a gasp of surprise when it was brought to our table. I’ve posted a photo, so be sure to check it out! We concluded our meal with a refreshing combination of mizuyokan (sweet bean jelly with black beans) and matcha, making for a perfect ending to an exquisite...
