After our visit to Yūshūkan Shrine, we wandered a little further and eventually found ourselves at Indian Restaurant Mumbai Kudan.
It felt like the perfect stop — a cozy retreat after the solemnity and historical depth of the shrine. From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere set a welcoming tone.
The interior is warm and inviting, with soft lighting and décor that blends subtle touches of Indian culture with a clean, modern Japanese sense of order.
The seating is comfortable and spaced well, creating an intimate environment that works whether you’re dining as a couple, with friends, or even alone.
There’s also a faint but comforting aroma of spices in the air that instantly stirs your appetite, reminding you that this is not just another international restaurant in Tokyo but a place that takes its cuisine seriously.
The staff played a big role in making the meal memorable. They greeted us warmly, spoke with genuine friendliness, and never once gave the impression of being rushed. Even small gestures — a smile while serving, or checking in discreetly to make sure everything was fine — showed their attention to detail. They struck a rare balance between professionalism and personal warmth, which made the experience feel less like being a customer and more like being a welcomed guest.
As for the food, it truly delivered. The lamb biryani came in the right portion size — hearty enough to satisfy without being overwhelming. Each spoonful carried the depth of carefully balanced spices, the rice cooked to perfection, and the lamb tender and flavorful. The accompanying raita was cool and refreshing, cutting through the richness of the biryani just as it should. The chicken soup, while simpler, was comforting and light, almost like a gentle prelude before the main act. And the mango lassi was the perfect finishing touch: creamy, chilled, and naturally sweet, refreshing both the palate and the spirit.
Yes, the prices are a little on the higher side compared to a quick casual eatery, but given the quality of the food, the care in presentation, the friendliness of the staff, and the overall pleasant interior, it felt justified.
It’s not just a place to fill your stomach; it’s a place to sit down, enjoy, and unwind after a long day of exploring. For us, it became more than just dinner — it felt like part of the journey itself, blending seamlessly into the memory of that...
