Satoshi and the other bartender were very kind and welcoming. My wife and a couple friends went into this little intimate bar after taking a stroll in a Sumida, Tokyo alley. They specialize in a delicious variety of mojitos and gin and tonics. The small cover charge includes a choice of snacks. You can smell the vintage fashion and leather goods as you enter this bar and nothing but a warm environment from the owner and staff. At first confusing, but quickly learned after a conversation that Ipcress isn’t just the name to his bar or his clothing line, but what seems to be a brand of wholesome hospitality and a true love for fashion, vintage style and craft. He was kind enough to send us off with some handmade souvenirs to remember this moment for the rest of our lives. Truly a core memory unlocked in our first trip to Japan. I cannot wait until his leather goods become available for purchase online, especially his jackets, but he is awaiting until he perfects what he calls his hobby. A true hidden gem of this city. Thank you...
Read moreAn absolutely magical hidden cocktail bar and atelier near Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree. The vibe is impeccable, it’s clearly a passion project, and the patrons are unutterably cool. Satoshi is the owner and he is a man of many talents. He makes wonderful mojitos - try the fresh yuzu mojito, it is life-changing! He also hand-makes all of the menswear and womenswear displayed in the bar, from vintage Japanese fabrics and using vintage 1960s patterns, in his atelier upstairs. You can buy it for yourself - I bought a beautiful handmade dress, there is even a small changing room! And he has a mobile cocktail bar as well, built in a vintage camper-van. He is also so friendly and warm.
We loved this place and we will definitely be back next time we are in Tokyo. The reviews don’t lie: this is the best cocktail bar in the city. Try it...
Read moreWhat a really nice place this is.. was looking for a place for just a drink before visiting the sky tower and I found this place. I was a bit sceptical because I didn't know the area at first but as soon as I arrived the owner himself Satoshi greeted me and his barmaid Naru-chan who were very welcoming.. Satoshi has very good English and of all my visits to pubs in Japan this is by far my favourite. He does sewing during the day and he make these little key holders that are amazing! If u fancy a drink and u are in Tokyo please check this place out it is a really nice relaxing vibe. I will definitely be back to this...
