A kaiseki meal is definitely an experience to have and this is great place to do it. With only 5 chairs at the bar (and it was a quiet night with just us for some of the time) it is great to be able to have explanations of the ingredients and the cooking. Every course has an elegance about it. Some of the flavours are subtle and different for a western palate. But the quality is excellent and the service is faultless. If you go there, allow the time to savour the meal - we were there for 2 hours, giving us time to enjoy each of the many courses without feeling in any way rushed. And while some of the servings are small in themselves, the number of courses makes for a substantial meal. The rice and bream dish at the end was more than we could eat and so the leftovers were beautifully packaged for our breakfast at our self catering lodgings. The abalone we had is the best and most tender I have experienced and the pink long and conger eel courses were my favourites. While there is the matched saki offering, we elected to try a couple of 180ml bottles of two different sakis, which for us was a good decision but I see many people have also mentioned enjoying the pairing option. Whichever way you decide, I highly recommend this place if you are a foodie and keen to try the best of Japanese dining. It is about the whole experience, not “just a meal”, and a very enjoyable one. The service is impeccable, starting with finding us on the street as we searched for the entrance. Google maps was a bit confusing about the exact location but is only a couple of doors from the main street in a tiny...

I booked my visit two months in advance, filled with anticipation. To put it simply, it was one of the best dining experiences of my life.

The October 2025 kaiseki course I had was like a beautifully written travelogue on a plate. Starting with the "Makomo" appetizer with crab sauce, moving through the "Hassun" with Hokkaido sea urchin and persimmon in a delicate soy sauce, and culminating in the incredibly juicy grilled Iga Wagyu beef, every dish was a perfect ode to autumn. What truly astonished me was the plant-based (vegan) course we ordered alongside the regular one. It was a revelation to see how diverse, deep, and satisfying vegan cuisine could be. Sharing and comparing the two courses was a delightful experience in itself.

The sake pairing was the masterstroke that completed the picture. Each sake was meticulously selected to complement the specific flavors of the dish, creating a symphony in my mouth. It wasn't just about having a drink with the food; the sake felt like an integral part of each course, enhancing every single bite.

Beyond the exquisite food, the booklet on the table offered a heartfelt glimpse into the chef's profound respect for his hometown's ingredients and his father's legacy. This emotional narrative transformed a simple dinner into a deeply memorable experience. Any lingering culinary nostalgia I had from my time in Sapporo vanished in an instant. For any food lover visiting Tokyo, Ise Sueyoshi isn't just a recommendation; it's an essential...

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Ise Sueyoshi a couple of months ago, indulging in their renowned kaiseki course paired with sake. This culinary journey through Japanese culture and seasons was nothing short of exceptional.

Each of the ten meticulously curated dishes showcased the finest ingredients from Mie Prefecture, expertly prepared to highlight the essence of the season. From delicate sashimi to perfectly prepared meats, every bite was a revelation of flavor and freshness.

Chef Yuki Tanaka's dedication to sourcing locally and his global culinary experiences were evident in every aspect of our dining experience. The attention to detail and commitment to excellence shone through in each dish, leaving us in awe of his craftsmanship.

Beyond the gastronomic delights, Ise Sueyoshi's focus on sustainability and community engagement added another layer of depth to our experience. Knowing that our meal was not only delicious but also supported ethical food practices was truly satisfying.

It's no surprise that Ise Sueyoshi has garnered numerous awards and accolades, including being ranked first among fine restaurants in Japan. Our evening at this esteemed establishment was a testament to why it holds such esteemed status. For anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the best of Japanese cuisine, Ise Sueyoshi is a must-visit...
