Kodama — Restaurant in Tokyo

Fairly reasonably priced but if the food is just average, is it really a good deal?

I came to Kodama for lunch and ordered the roast beef bowl and with the buffet, it came to a total of 1500 yen. The buffet wasn’t huge but included non-alcoholic drinks, prosciutto, salad, white sausage and a few other items.

To me, the roast beef bowl was fairly non-memorable as it the flavor didn’t pop. It felt under seasoned and they also added a sauce on it (which I couldn’t make out what it was) that I didn’t much care for. With that said, I did like the presentation.

The buffet itself was fine but I honestly can’t eat enough of it to really make it worth it, though I can see for some people that this would be a great value add. In terms of taste, much like the roast beef bowl, everything was just so-so.

Overall, I’d say that Kodama is a great place for those who want a large meal during lunch and if you’re okay with it just being average food. For me, I’d prefer to spend 1500 yen somewhere else.

In a cheap Japanese-style western restaurant, salads and appetizers are normal. Tableware clearly tells you that the consumption level is a working meal. The bread before dinner is a little surprising. The temperature and baking are carefully thought out. The cheese platter is obviously a fast-food style. 際限なき劣化の一途。この店に初めて行く人は、どうか以下書き込み(長いので後半のバルマルシェコダマ堕落の黒歴史だけでも)を見てほしい。

「店名を変える前の最高なプレーツ&イート」を知ってる身としては、もう本当に過去の思い出を冒涜されてるようで泣きたくなるし、怒りしかない。

かつてあまりの劣化に見限り、何かの間違いで復活してないかと1年半ぶりにきたが、むしろ更なる劣化に絶望するしかなかった。

主な改悪点(2019/4→2020/12)は以下の通り

食べ放題の日替わりメニューが消滅？(かつては恒常の生ハムピクルス等とは別に、ローストビーフの切れ端やサラミなどの日替わりメニューが一つか二つあった)

ラザニアが明らかに原材料ケチってる(チーズとミートソースが明らかに少なく、それを誤魔化すために無駄にちゃんとした陶器に変更)

ソーセージの管理がさらに酷くなった(切って断面剥き出しの状態でずっとお湯に浸したまま。当然肉の旨味なんて悉く流出。ただでさえ不味く劣化したソーセージがその上さらに不味くなりもうふざけんなとしか)

まあ前回からさらに劣化したが、それでもまだ誤差の範囲。 それ以前のえげつない劣化の方が遥かに悲惨なので、その歴史を記憶にある限り簡単に書く(多少の前後はあれ、大体合ってるはず)

◆バルマルシェコダマ堕落の黒歴史(と私)--------

2016年まで 店名がプレーツ&イートだった。当時はバイキング形式も違い、ピザとラザニア(確かスパゲティも)も食べ放題だった。そしてソーセージも今より遥かに美味しい「本物」であり、ケチャップ等のトッピングも無料だった。このときは本当に最高だった。 ↓ 2017年夏 長い改装の後にバルマルシェコダマと名前を変えてリニューアル。ピザラザニアスパゲティが食べ放題から外され、1品のみ選択オーダー制に変える改悪。ただその代わりに、「コダマのお肉たっぷりピザ」みたいな名前のローストビーフサラミソーセージ等をこれでもかと乗せた豪華なピザが選べた。 ↓ 2018年春 この頃から本格的に客を舐め始める。ソーセージのトッピングからケチャップ等を無くし、有料オプションに変える。 ↓ 2018年初夏 かつては数種類のそれぞれ全く味の異なる本格ソーセージを用意していたのに、シャウエッセンと大差ない平凡な種類を1,2個に変える。 ↓ 2018年夏 ソーセージが大幅改悪。かつてはおそらく夜の営業で使用する本格ソーセージを出していたが、突然謎の恐ろしく不味い巨大ソーセージに変更。魚肉ソーセージみたいでとても食えたものじゃなかった。おそらくコストカットを目的に、昼のバイキング専用に安価な不味いソーセージを開発したと思われる。 ↓ 2018年秋 お肉たっぷりピザがオーダーメニューから消滅。ラザニア等もじわじわ劣化しており、いよいよ怒りを通り越して呆れてきた。 ↓ 2018年冬 日替わりメニュー改悪。この頃にはソーセージが死にお肉たっぷりピザも死に、もはや日替わりメニューでローストビーフ切れ端等の当たりメニューを引くだけが勝利条件となっていたが、それすら全く見なくなる。私は絶望した。 ↓ 2019年春 ...
